Not sure if i'm the only one experiencing this problem...I just can't listen to any song here at SS since last month,Feb 11th. Not sure how to get this fixed without calling the "Geek Squad". Anyway, trouble began when I backed up all my files to an external hard drive cuz my C drive was getting full.In the process I also freed up a considerable Gigs from the C drive, roughly 3 to 7 GB(17GB to date), by deleting program files that were never or rarely used...that's when all hell broke loose...subs just won't play...I did a system restore but I couldn't set the date beyond the 11th...still tried to restore on the 11th ..no luck...I miss my listens here so if anybody could let me know what to do, i'm listening..I mean i'll be reading.

BTW, my speaker works fine and the mp3's saved on my puter plays perfectly fine..just can't listen to the streaming audio from SS and the other Karaoke Sites.

Thanks,
Arthur :(

My problem is speed or rather lack of it. I have 3, 15/20 sec stops in between song.
It just take away the joy of listening. Maybe I need to reset the buffer or something.

it seems that realplayer is what they use to play the subs on SS, so if one of the progs you deleted is real player that might be the issue.

You may need to uninstall your Real Player and reinstall it.

Try deleting, then reinstalling Quicktime.

No error at all..the pop up comes up and do nothing ,however if I let it open for about half an hour , it plays just one note..it says "boink" and then it's gone again.
Thanks helping Cindy...appreciate the input.

Hi Hanna,
Thanks for the encouragement...I know this puter problem is getting old so I decided to sub that last song til i get this fixed.Anyway, i tried doing the sound thing but i'm not sure if I did it right cuz I couldn't seem to save the sound into a file. WHen I clicked on the drop down it gave me a list of names, clicked on the default Sounds and save. It asked me if I want to replace the existing one , and I cliked Yes..still no miracle. Anyway thanks for the input.Appreciate all the help I could get .
HAve a nice weekend now.
Later,
Arthur

ok Arthur.. I think I read somewhere that some of the sites use Microsoft Net.. did you happen to remove that?? is it listed in your control panel add/remove programs??

Have you done Windows update?

umm.. k.. it may also use a java applet but I'm not sure.. that'd be a question for Phill prolly.. somewhere there's a file that is missing.. a file or service. and you said you uninstalled WMP and QUICK and reinstalled them both and no gain..

you said you made a backup of your computer before you uninstalled things.. can you restore from the backup?

Hi Cindy,I did not remove anything related to Microsoft..had I known things like this could happen ,i could have made a record of what i removed..M Net is not listed on the add/remove program..I've done the windows update countless times since. I deleted and uploaded JAVA as well, i got the latest version 5 or 6.
Funny thing was I didn't really think that this was big of a problem so i kept doing a back-up so my back up is identical to my C drive..can't salvage it from my external drive either..but then, who knows, couple of item i need to do ,I guess, i'll check that Windows Net and get a second look at my external Drive.

Thanks to everyone who has been so helpful in solving my problem, sadly the Tech support on SS  is lacking.Never got a reply from the email I sent explaining my problem.
Anyway, after talking to our IT guy at work, he suggested to download the other internet application, Mozilla's Firefox. So I did, and it worked for a while. But then all of a sudden ,it stopped working and i could not even log back in to the SS website and gave me this error.."The page isn't redirecting properly.Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."   This, however, confirmed and isolated the real problem, there's a broken link on the Quicktime thing. So I've deleted and re-istalled it again for the third time,i guess..well ,i lost count, i  think i've installed a couple different versions at some point.   Whoala, i got it working again using the MS Internet Explorer...don't get excited yet!!!!..BUT>>>the big BUT..it plays, BUT there's some interference..specially if you do something else while listening..a rumbling, hissing sound come up in the background..Gosh,when will the problem stop..I'll do some more tinkering and hope to get it working problem free before I totally jump back on the wagon.
Thanks again to all of you on this forum.
