Can someone reccmmend to me a mixer that has the Multiplex function......

Audio 2000 and Voco Pro has mixers that will do the job.
Good news about RoxBox. They have been trying to build their own player so it won't be reliant on winamp to play. One of the things they are adding is the capability to deal with Multiplex (cutting out one channel and moving the other channel's input over to the other side output wise- which is basically what any multiplex function does).

Any mixer can be hooked up with L to one channel R to an adjacent channel both panned center.  Mute either one to eliminate the vocal...

Yeah, all mutiplex does is locate all the vocals on one channel (L or R), so all you have to do to eliminate the vocals on any multiplex CDG is shift your balance over to the side that doesn't include the multiplex vocals. That's all the multiplex function on players/mixers does, it just automates turning the balance knob.

Me thinks it is a little more complicated than that. I like having the button to chose as it allows me to give the audience true stereo with regular dj music.

Sorry to say it isn't any more complicated than that....all a multiplex track does is locate the vocals fully on one channel, and all the multiplex function on CDG players does is pan the vocals out of that channel...simple stuff...

This is the way I always use to handle multiplex before Hoster added a mulitplex function button to their software last year. Also I think it will take more than 1 button as some multiplex discs have the vocal tracks on left channel vs right. Some VCDs come that way (weird but true) My software has 3 buttons (Left,Right,Both) for multiplex that way it covers all the bases.

In keeping with the original thread I know vocopro has a MPX button on a couple of their mixing boards. However you might want to do a search on this forum to read up on quality issues they may have. I have never used any of their products but others have.

SOME of the original multiplex discs of the early 90's had an underlying track that you did need to switch via remote from digital to analog (never understood analog via digital medium) to eliminate the vocals.  I have some old NuTech discs that were like that.  But most any multiplex discs of today have the vocals panned to one side & the music to the other.

Thank you lonman for backing my point of some of the mulitplex needing special needs.   I own a lot of those discs and am glad my Da-1000 has such a button, otherwise I would eliminate every nutech discs in my collection. too bad though, cause even though I consider Nutech the bottom of the bottom of karaoke discs for audio quality only, they do have some songs not available anywhere else. BUt even so I prefer having the same multiplex abilities that my old Pioneer twin tray had built into my software player.

All my discs are multiplex. never use a mixer with such funtion. Most player have that fuction. Using pc, many software player hve that fuction and if not just pann the wav. control of the soundcard to  one side to get the vox out.

That was kind of where I was going just didn't elaborate, most players already have the feature built in to decode the old style multiplex discs, it's just a matter of a simple digital to analog feature that is usually on the remotes or on non-karaoke machines, you may have to do a little research through the manual but they usually would work too..
