That is spooky! I really had no idea you'd post a cat avatar too. I guess great (or some might think dumb) minds think alike.

My cat couldn't. Wow, hubba, hubba! LOL

I have always liked cats. I think they are smart animals...except for the ones who run into traffic!
I also like dogs, but have noticed that dogs are so predictable. They are content to just eat, sleep, and bark. And dogs will eat anything...well, atleast the little dog we have will. It's one of those little scrappy poodle mixes called a bischon? I don't know the spelling. This thing just swallows table food whole without chewing like a garbage disposal....pretty dumb IMO. (a garbage disposal atleast chews first)
Cats are very discriminating. One has to earn the trust of a cat before the cat will warm up to them, and then, that depends on whether or not the cat is having a good or bad day. Cats are constantly reevaluating the scene to determine if it's smart to proceed, and if the cat feels threatened, it'll visciously retaliate. In other words, my cats beat up on my dog.
Even though a cat is a predatory animal, it knows what it likes and will be a very loyal and lovable companion. I can compare myself to a cat because I am one. I believe in the zodiac hoooey I guess. But I can't explain why I sometimes run head-on into traffic without thinking?

awww The pet raccoons I knew were really cute too (they get pretty big and like to sleep alot, but) they can be so sweet. They use their 'hands' just like people do, wash their food before they eat & like to snuggle & give kisses.
Of course, I've heard that racoons can get quite aggressive, so that's kind of scary... but the pet one's I've known were neat pets.

Steven Kaplan @ Fri Mar 03, 2006 11:49 pm wrote: The rule, or at least commonly heard belief used to be Racoon's are adorable when young, and they make fabulous pets, HOWEVER the owner at one point WILL in most cases need to make alternative plans because the matured animal is likely to become extremely tempermental, and difficult if not impossible to keep in a domestic situation. It will tear apart your home, bite, and will never be a predictable tame animal given it's natural characteristics... I thought this was also typical of both Lion and Tiger cubs... Adorable when young... impossible to cohabitate with humans as house pets when mature... and from the episode involving the chimpanzee in California about a year ago, I'm starting to wonder about chimps too as pets :( A species that is 98% our DNA. (or something like that)
I know that DOES happen quite a bit... at least with the racoons, it probably has to do with folks simply not understanding how to handle the critters (or letting them learn bad habits when they are young, not understanding that they will be HUGE when they grow up). It often happens with ferrets too, but at least the second one I had was REALLY sweet as an adult (his name was Dudley... ).
As for having 'large cats' as pets... uh.... considering how 'domestic' cats normally act with their 'owners' (no one REALLY ever owns a cat), I just don't think it would be a good idea. They would kill or mame you accidentally. That would suck.

I agree with what you're saying here. Well, I like cats and dogs. Cats are more clever, interesting and lovable (on a good day as you said). But if you want more of a sure fired show of affection, than a good dog is your choice without a doubt. Dogs
are much easier to please for sure. But I would have to favor cats a bit more. Charmin needs to put her two cents in on this topic. If you want to hear some STRONG pro-dog, anti-cat rhetoric then she's your go-to person. I think maybe without saying it out loud her and I have agreed to disagree on this debate topic! LOL

Oh no thank you!! I don't need any more cat fights. I'm almost clawless as it is.
I always wanted a big dog, but after seeing how my brother's big dog had to be penned up mostly, I thought...what's the point? Where's the love? Where's the protection of having a big dog? Where's the money coming from to replace things that get torn up by a big dog if he's a house dog?
Aleast cats dig a hole and cover their crap.

We have both cats & dogs... (three dogs, two cats). They all get along extremely well, considering. The dogs squabble on occassion over food. The cats tussle with each other every so often because younger male 'morris' decides to pounce spayed female 'buffy' (and then she has to teach him a lesson of course... which he obviously doesn't learn). LMAO
But the cats get along really well with the dogs (and vice versa). I used to be a 'dog' person (although I've always loved all animals and never had anything 'against' cats in particular) and jvj used to be a 'cat' person. We kind of converted each other. I love them all.
