But it will only RIP into KMA which is SO VERY ONE WAY!...and then you have to have Hoster(200 bucks per copy/per machine) to play what you ripped! Where is the flex?

How many programs rip into multiple formats? I mean, what is the real point. It will play mp3's ripped wth your favorite Ripping program. and for $200 you can have it on 2 machines. for the hoster lite, it is limited to 1 machine.

I mean, what do you expect someone to pay programers thousands of dollars to produce a program, and then give it away? As far as Paying for support, that hasnt happened yet, but many companys do that now, Symantec for one.

Will microsoft let you install Windows, let you decide you dont want it, then give you a refund on it, I dont think so. MTU very clearly states exactly what they will do, and what the program will and wont do. Just because someone doesnt read everything, it isnt their fault. All the information is on the website.

I use winamp as my free karaoke player (so I can afford to get my "mortar" set from Sound Choice! LOL!). A regular disc player for my mix music, and a mixer to fade it all back and forth.

Guys, don't make it harder than it has to be.

Hoster doesn't do access my dj music the way i access it with RoxBox

Ok, I have never  used Rocksbox, so I wouldnt know that. I keep media player, or ots dj minimized to do dj music.  But I usually don't mix kj and dj It doesnt work here.

You still need a separate program to play your filler music

Actually hoster will play Mp3's mp3+g, wma's video's and vcd's. It will play filler music, and handle multiplex.

But the only way to access the mp3+g zipped or not in the same manner as songs ripped directly from discs is to allow hoster to modify them into KMA files.

But for the record........ if you WERE "peeking under a hood"......... then I'd hang around, cause I'm sure I could teach you a thing or two that you don't know.  LOL

And I'm SO not coming back in here again.....Promise. My lip is zipped.

I agree whole heartedly but, the only fair way to test a program is to use it on a gig or two.  That would mean learning the program and maybe making mistakes on the job from inexperience.  For me at least, using MTU would mean upgrading my gigging computer so even testing it fairly is not workable.  That's why I am interested in hearing the pros and cons of karaoke software from the people who use it.  I read the feature list carefully and it seems to come up a little short for the extra money.

Danny,
Hoster will play a mp3+g or a zipped on directly without converting it. Hey, of you like your rocksbox fine. But keep it real.

Well, I worked with my pc for MANY moons at home running "partial gigs" until I got the feel of it. I'd NEVER run a computer program unless I was "used" to it. No matter how easy!

I agree with knightshow complicated is a pain on the road, I use a dvd player with custom mp3 disks made ahead of time with music that gets a reaction from a crowd. If you don't know what music is good to fill up 150 songs on a dvd disk then get out of the music biz now  LOL . Fade in fade out danielson.

I did not say it wouldn't play it. I said that you can't use the same search pattern with the MP3+G Zipped song without converting it to KMA. Just like you can't access your filler music using the same way you access your karaoke database with Hoster.
I can do all that with RoxBox and will continue to choose use RoxBox until KJamp is ready.

I have several playlists saved for fill or DJ
S country f country old country
s rock      f rock
doowop
hip hop rap  (lists made by teens)
various various artist
spanish tejano new mexico classic kumbia
big band
and others

With the proper software you should be able to switch genres on a dime fill or dj. You should be able to sandwich singers in between dj music or take dance requests along with karaoke and keep everybody satisfied. It should keep a singers que and fill or dj que and have the capabilities of random and deleting after play. It should auto fade between kj and dj or fill..A singer history is nice especialy with a venue that has a weekly turnaround.  Added plusses are recording singers into wav files. A ripper that doesnt need a compatible drive. A bookmaker that lets you choose an custom format. A singers que list you can put on the big screen.

If your software does most of these or meets your requirements then use it.. I originally put $150 into Cavs both players the decoder and encoder. I also bought S&D I have used roxbox for about a year now All the above I used for a year or more including winamp with a manual cross fader. It would have nice to have a forum that could discuss the different ones and list their pros and cons to get a good comparison rather than putting out 100's of dollars in the evolving process.

Something other than it sucks or its the only one to use would be nice.. I admire loyalty but in the business world the most efficient and economical is the one to use..And I would like to be able to keep up with all the updates as I have downloaded and tried all of them Trica soft crashed my system but that could have been my fault...

DannyG2006,
Can roxbox play .kma files, or are they stuck on the "free" mp3+g and zipped formats? Can it play dat, Mpg, vob, avi and divx files?
if it can, Maybe I need to try it out.

Nope, MTU told me he would sue anyone who wrote a converter that would play his KMA files in another player....He said "it will never happen" cause he wouldn't allow it to happen.

So there you are, you are tempted to try another program, but as you can see what I've been complaining about is valid after all.....If you convert to KMA with Hoster, you are stuck with Hoster unless you rerip EVERYTHING using another ripping program. Hoster is a one way street.

....And I said I was thru complaining about MTU....

I don't think that will happen. If format shifting is good from mp3-> kma or from cdg->kma then format shifting from Kma->whatever is also good. Once a song has been put in kma format do you really believe it belongs to MTU?

Total B...S...t
