A man who used to go out to the clubs all the time was once asked, "why don't you ever ask any of us out?" He said, "I just go to the clubs to dance. I go to church to pick up the ladies!" Hmmm!

Yeah, but the movie--can't believe I'm remembering or even bringing this up---Footloose. In other words, the saying about the preacher's daughter. Maybe that's why some men started looking in the Church more---I dunno :2cents:

Perhaps the church is seen as a place where more stable, long-term relationships
could start. What the heck are most people after these days? I've lost the pulse of America -- it's become rather thready.

True, I think it all ties into values and morals and how one might relate those to another indivudual. How they respect the values of another is a different area altogether. That seems to be lost in the "Generation Gap" of yesterday vs. today though.

Oh yea, tolerance and understanding of people outside the church isn't exactly a strong suit of many church goers.

It can be too much like an exclusive club. Not always a good thing by any means!

I think church is just a micro- view of the entire picture. Tolerance rears it's ugly head in many forms

Yes, the lack of tolerance or understanding a person's view or opinion.

Is intolerance based on ignorance? Or is it just hate for hate's sake? Seem like it's often based on a need to feel superior to somebody.

It can be based on ignorance, lack of understanding, self discipline, or education.

Yep, it's easy to forget the original thread titles. Charmin, get well before Saturday night! I'm hoping to hear a couple songs from you -- fingers are still crossed. Rich is the KJ, so that means Gayle will be there too.
