I have a Samson SR-33 unit. There are two switches on the bottom of the mic. One is mute, the other power.

It works really well once I set the gain correctly. But man, if I turn that sucker off with the little switch on the bottom of the mic, I get this HUGE white noise problem....It's ok if all I do is mute it, but if I then turn it off, it will blast you out of your seat.

What's up? Lost radio signal causing it?....If so, that makes it a real pain when I want to turn it off to save the battery without first muting it at the board.

I have the same exact situation with my audio-technica VHF cordless.

As soon as I turn off --WOW what a noise...  Didn't always happen so I'm not sure what is causing it.....

I know what you mean cos we have that same problem with one of the 2 mics. We have too taped the off switch and use the mute button.
In the end we manage to track the cause to loose battery connection.

Oh the mic in question is dead now; a singer drop it. yeah the wire at one of the end of the battery holder, said one of the KJ. He repaid it then.
And the mic is not a Samson but a non brand China made. That sound, when it happened, and it will if someone does the switch; can know you off you feet man.
