How much of "who we are" in real might other's see in here ?
In my case, I show my "fun" side in here, also a certain intense side... While my intent is to be genuine, this is only a small part of who I am, and without expression, and my actual physical being, or even voice tone..or baggage, I'm just wondering how well others can "know who we are" just based upon our presentation in these rooms. Even after a year or several years.

well.... my bubbly side definately gets shown here..... that's definately for real. My dorky humor, etc.... I'm most definately a true dork...
as for my flirtatious side..... the side of me that uses the smilie is only an on-line personality.... I'm actually really shy around the opposite sex in the real world... I can't even LOOK straight at a guy without gettin all flustered.... like I said.. I'm a total dork!
...and my snarky pi$sy side doesn't come out much on here..... it used to..... but it's not worth it anymore..... I definately have my opinions about a few people here that get on my nerves though! HAHA but most of ya's are complete dolls! If I've told ya that I love ya then I do..... the ones I can't stand just get ignored!

Yeah, I pretend I like classic rock too, but my real love is the true musicians like KORN, Courtney Love, Limp Bisket, and the one in a million real talents ! I enjoy free rap too ! A couple of nuns, and fat balding jewish guys around here have an ensemble, where we rap all sorts of stuff, we need to get our choreography organized for some of the earlier gangsta rap renditions we are working on. OK, now a side of me I don't show, like the side that sort've freaks when a large filling fall's out, and it's obvious to me that the dentist is going to want to do another root canal when I finally get the guts to go.... I've always feared dentists and doctors.... So tonight in the back of my mind, I get all obsessive about these small little things, yet still type humorous stuff.... In real, I'm constantly worried about stuff.... Never free... A few hours ago I spit out about 1/3 of a tooth and filling
In real I'm very "stuck in my own head", and appear stone cold to most that see me, I don't make eye contact, walk briskly and purposefully, and don't smile...I look angry to many... Most of the time I actually am.. Yet places like this I come to escape that.... These places are therapeutic for me... Laughing helps me get by

Okay, cool, I was thinking it might be something like that, but wasn't totally sure. That is a good question.
Until people here meet face-to-face, you can never really tell, but it seems like you can get good gauge on personalities, values, sense of humor, etc., from many of the members here... and yet, some are still a mystery.
Not that I toss out a lot of posts, but I prefer threads where we can B.S. or joke around, cause that's definately part of my personality.
If some of the posts here reflect people's true persona's, I'd definately love to hang out with a lot of 'em.

I'm all here... I hold NOTHING back. I may not say what I'm feeling to avoid outright war, but what you see here is the real me.

Good question- I always wonder that about other people. I think everyones
concern for helping people is genuine. The people on the forum for the most part seem like genuinely nice people.
I don't think you can deguise who the humorous people are - that's natural.
Sometimes the sexual stuff in the forum bugs me. That's just me. I am a little conservative. I need to know people better before I can joke in that way. There are to many wierdos out there that can take you seriously - next thing you know you've got a stalker.
I'd say I am myself in the forum.

Ya just never know.
I think over time we do see one another's reactions to different settings. Certain consistencies as well as inconsistencies regarding personality. I think photo's help get an idea to an extent. Maybe emoticoms help convey some expression, at least what little is possible in such a venue..
Without seeing facial expression, hearing a person's voice... and having aspects of physical expression available, I was just wondering how close we can "peg" someone, or get a decent idea as to "Whom, or how they really are as people in the real world", and not just acting in a setting where the person with a better ability for typed presentation might come across as being the "more together" person.

what you see here is me......but i do worry sometimes if people are really seeing the real me that i'm trying to put across.....it's so hard sometimes when you read what a person writes so some might not see me the same as i do.....does that make sense? 'cos i'm kinda confused now.... <<this is the second time i've used this smiley this morning, i might just go back to bed and read for the day..

I'm just wondering if most only see the small fragments of "us", we consciously are aware we show them. "We" are a combo of ALOT of things.. Here we present certain aspects in a very limited context. Some even type words, yet remain quite detached emotionally. I guess I wonder how much of what's typed in extremely visible public venues is "who we are", or in some cases who we are when acting to "impact", "People Please", "be a part of", in many cases online even "show off" etc...
How much of this is "us" vs "who we want to be", or "How we wish for others to perceive us" ? As I've stated this isn't ALL me. Noone would want most of "me" presented to them in type...If we are putting our "best foot forward", and our presentation is thought out, is this "us" ? or us acting a part ? while hiding alot of who we are ?

There are very few people on here that I would recognize if I walked into a bar and they were there. It amazes me how predjudices are formed and certain peoples opinons are evaluated or ignored simply by their avatars. Altough I havnt misrepresented my self on here I doubt if anybody would recognize me in real life either.

I think, I'm pretty much an open book......
I try not to be, but people see what they see I guess. And at times, people have seen right through me.....
Though, I think maybe a time or two I've given the wrong impression of myself, that people could TOTALLY take wrong.
For instance, I'm a bit too flirty. That's true in real life though, it just comes out, it's party of my personality. But it's harmless, I'M harmless.
But my picture, yes, that's me. Though rarely ever is my hair put up, it's usually hanging in my face, getting pushed out of my eyes....... And I look much taller in a face shot, haha, so you could actually walk past me & miss me in a crowd. When I met Kurt, that was the first thing he said, haha "you look much smaller than your picture shows online"....
I got really SICK of people not getting my name when I first came here, alot of people took it wrong. And here I thought I was all coy. It means my shoes are BLUE, from walking in BLUEGRASS...... cause Bluegrass music is a big part of who I am. But many times I've gotten lewd comment about my shoe stains..... and either people are being dorks, or they just don't get the name.
You know, I don't have one setup, but I think people's photo galleries, combined with how they post in threads, tell alot about them. You get to see photos of them in real life situations, doing things they like to do....... and it gives a clearer picture than just the avatar.

I agree, Charmin!
That's why I love the photo galleries so much!! Kinda brings you into the person's life! I especially like it when they have pics of their families and friends, etc! You get a better feel for the person!

You know, I used to browse those from time to time, but haven't lately......... I think I need to go check out yours....... hopefully you have pics up. Cause I'm wondering- just WHO is that Crystal gal anyhow?
And- we need to SERIOUSLY start planning that August karaoke party here, since that's when Sharon will be out. You gonna really think about coming? I'll put you up at my place, and heck, if I'm able, I'll even try to help with your ticket.
Cause that would be a blast. Wouldn't be alot of us there, but between you, me, Matt, Tig, Lonman, Kurt, Don, and Sharon........... I think at the least we could make some hella memories. (and get some hella good pics too, haha)

Heck, you all think I'm a nut anyhow...... LMAO
