Vietnam Bans Alcohol in Karaoke Bars

HANOI, Vietnam (Feb. 17) - Karaoke bars in Vietnam will no longer be allowed to sell or have alcohol on their premises as part of the country's continued campaign against so-called 'social evils,' a government official said Friday.


Under a decree that took effect Thursday, karaoke bars, along with discotheques, will also be required to close down at midnight, said Le Anh Tuyen, director of the Legal Department at the Ministry of Culture and Information.


"The decree will definitely help reduce negative activities in karaoke bars and discotheques," he said.


Karaoke establishments and discos frequently facilitate prostitution and drug usage.


Friday's Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper quoted Phan An Sa, chief inspector at the Ministry of Culture and Information as saying authorities have discovered 600 people using the drug ecstasy and 60 women offering striptease dances to customers at karaoke bars and discos over the past nine months.


Karaoke was introduced into Vietnam in the late 1980s and mushroomed in the late 1990s, with more than 10,000 establishments licensed to operate in the country, Tuyen said.

Hmm.....now that you mention it, there do seem to be lots of drugs and hookers at my karaoke show, but I think that only helps business....

Karaoke without alcohol is like, .....having sex while your alone....it works but it's just not the same.......alcohol is a tool with which singers use to adjust their social skills......and I drink Tequila....I definitely get adjusted......I'm trying to get a mental picture of a Vietnamese honky tonk......

and the drug thing why shame on them......for getting caught.......

the loose women that frequent the gin joints in this area generally don't charge.....in fact if your reasonably good looking and can sing......lets just say generally you wouldn't have to pay........

I think you started a new topic, would KJs do this?

Where would we hide them while they perform on us?
Would they sing first or BJ first? If BJ'd it might just ruin their voice.
And would this rule apply to both sexes?
Could you lawfully accept one from her and not him or vise versa?

This forum should nominate a chairperson to establish guidelines after and extensive research and development program to ensure that this does get over to the DJs and remains a KJ only propriety. As well to make sure that it is safe and practical use of power for all KJs to enjoy, that and to ensure there is no leakage to spouses!

Let the nominations begin!
