Sorry, I didn't mean to insult the instrument by implying it has uses outside of bluegrass, or country. That's what I meant, the "fiddle', Violin is just slang... It's upper-class speak for the Fiddle, just elitest BS... SNobbery

Oh, and Steven....... I'm a step ahead of you. My real name is NOT Charmin........ I mean, realistically, WHO would name their kid that?
My real name is, uh....... "Peter"........ yeah, that's it. LMAO And you will NEVER see the humor in that, but it's funny all the same.

Okay, just so you know the basic use for the fiddle...... bluegrass is first and foremost- always. Those classical people tried to take the fiddle away yanno....... heightened the bridge a bit, put nylon fibers on the bows (cause they were too prissy to go yankin' hairs from a horse's butt) LMAO But it's an instrument that will always belong to the hillbillies. :D

Um....... yeah....... and just WHO are they again? Haha, I don't think you'd ever in a million years find a bluegrass fiddler by the name of either Itzhak or Nigel, hahaha. (no offense intended of course, just two different worlds........)
Billy Bob & Hank & Bubba Jr. are 3 greats on classical violin though, man, you should hear those guys.

..........OR........... is it because you all realize that when I'm left alone, I babble non-stop nonsense to myself? I admit- I'm a yacker- and a bit high strung. Gimme a break.
So, if that's how you're all gonna be, I'll uh........ yeah, I'll LEAVE, that's what I'll do. I'll go find a thread where someone appreciates intelligent babble. (it may take a bit, but I WILL find one)

Well, I'm not really in a house....... I live in a TeePee. I'm the chiefs #5 squaw, and he'd never let you get through to see me. He's very picky about who comes in contact with his squaws. Sorry, karyoker....... you'd have to fight him to earn the right. Bare handed. Maybe even run the gauntlet. Many have tried, but not many make it.

Yeah, and the gals playing fiddle are usually wearing button up blouses tied up at the waist, and cut offs.......... verses the evening gowns to the throat & floor worn by your violinists....... LOL
But, I'm behaving nowadays..... so I can't talk like that. Sorry ShyGuy, I'll behave. JUST for YOU. (promise)

ok, so this indian chief has three daughters and in this particulat tribe, the larger the woman, the more desirable she is. it comes time for the daughters to be married off, so the chief gathers three young braves and tells them, "each of you go out and bring me back the largest, best hides you can. the best hide get's my largeest daughter and so forth".
so they go out and a day later the first brave comes back with three beaver pelts. the chief is unimpressed and gives him his smallest daughter who wieghs only 250 pounds. the second day the second brave comes back and he has a cowhide and two sheepskins. the chief is only slightly more impressed with these and give the brave his second largest daughter who wiehs only 300 pounds. a couple of weeks go by and everyone has just about given up on the third brave until he comes struggling back to the camp with two hippopotamus hides. he is scraped from head to toe, with bite marks all over him. the chief is extremely impressed with this and grants him the largest daughter who weighs in at a whopping 550 pounds.
do you know the moral of the story?
the squaw of the hippopotamus is equal to the squaws of the other two hides!
for those of you who slept through geometry, it is a play on words. to find the length of the Hypotenues (the long side of a right triangle), you take the sum of the sqaure of the other two sides then find the square root of that sum. hence,
The sqaure [squaw] of the Hypotenues [hippopotamus] is equal to the sum of the squares [squaws] of the other two sides [hides] LMAO
