How do you know he's not "acting" as if he runs audio for "House of Blues" ?

I know, I did think of that also, but he has a vast knowledge of audio. He could be lying - I'm not sure.

He of course acts as if he knows everything. I realize my little system is nothing in comparison to what he is used to, but I don't think he has the knowledge of how to run a smaller system. He is the one who told me not to run music through my monitors, so I took it to heart.
I totally lost confidence in him last night when I was singing he got up on stage and started changing things on the powered mixer. He kept getting feed back as I was singing. It was so distracting I actually pushed him off stage.

LMAO, I met some amazing people at bars..  I met 2 different Jesus Christ's, and a slough of others that I think started to believe their alcohol induced BS...

Around 1993 I played (sat-in actually) at the original HOB in Cambridge (I think that was the first HOB. Was more like a restaurant in those days.) Although I might be VERY wrong, (and I know there are always exceptions), The venue/chain now has class acts.. I can't imagine some rambunctious wannabe idiot would go charging onto your stage acting like a hotshot, not knowing what he's doing with a small system assuming he did "run sound for HOB"...Yet I might be way off...It sounds from your description that this guy likely doesn't "run sound".  It'd be really interesting to see if he's a "regular and getting &*^faced" at your bar when acts such as Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Etta James, and Koko Taylor are playing the Chicago venue LOL.. Is it possible he met the soundman a few years back, and ever since that time he decided "that's me?"

First House of Blues was opened in Cambridge, MA in 1992!!

Steve....was at least one of the two Jesus Christs a good singer??

And Babs....unless the guy had just INFINATE experience, I would assume he would actually have to have a sound engineering degree to work at the House of Blues these days, which is a 4-year degree at most music/engineering schools (you can get it in 2 if you go to a specialized school). As such, I would really assume if he were the sound engineer for the House of Blues and had the degree and experience to have that job, then he SHOULD be able to work pretty much all systems, big and small, without having a small catastrophe like you said he did. I have run sound for a band in a 20,000 seat auditorium (festival concert), and although there are subtle differences, the theory, concepts and fundamentals are exactly the same no matter what size the venue and system.

Babs,

There is only one way to solve this....Tell the guy he owes you a date at the HOB...and you insist on a front row seat for you and another female friend.....Tell him you are dying to hear/see him at work.

LMAO Better yet - you date him first and let me know how it goes. He's all yours.
