I have a PC that I want to be able to run a karaoke show from in my house to my TV and my home theater. (I might buy seperate speakers for the karaoke since in reading, LONMAN mentioned that the sound will be better plus, I wont blow my system out..Thanks Lonman:)
Anyhow, I know I need a Video Out card so the lyrics and signal will show on a monitor/T.V screen , but what about the sound getting from my PC to my speakers. I plan on using Rox Box or Sax and Dotty's (any preference?) to play my MP3+Gs I've converted, which are on a file on my hard drive.
This is purely to entertain friends at my house, not an actual karaoke or KJ show.
Also, to get the echo for a mic, do I need to buy a karaoke mixer or can I run the sound from the MP3+Gs from my pc, to my CAVS 203G karaoke player which obviously already has mic inputs and echo, etc, THEN to the speakers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Do I need a mixer in between the speakers and my CAVS Unit (will it make a big difference on the sound?)
Thanks gang~

audio sound from a pc can be done using your normal pc's sound device (1/8" jack)... radio shack makes a cord that converts that to RCA to be plugged into a stereo amp or device similar (some tvs have stereo sound)... it depends on how "special" you want to make it.
you can buy a mixer with built in mic effects... take the sound from the computer via the RCA cords (and I use a Soundblaster USB Mp3+ device that converts the sound to a pure RCA connection), and you can mix that to your stereo amp. Same with the mics... you can adjust their volume, and with a good mixer, add all sorts of vocal effects.

it MIGHT work... most folks don't like to use players for the mics.
I'd go to musician's friend and look for an inexpensive 4-6 channel mixer... my recommendation is to use the mixer to control the mics, the music from the computer, and take the master out from the mixer to the stereo amp!

one way or another you need some kind of mixer to allow sound from both your laptop and Cavs player to come through. The mix between the vocals and the backing music will sound better with a mixer. I haven't seen a player with an auxilery in yet other than on a pioneer home laser karaoke player.
