Keith I come from an era that if something didnt perform or do what you wanted you modified it.. When I was a kid we put over sized pistons in a little cat. I have souped up many a coupe.. Same with electronics. More power, extended frequency range changing from tube to solid state ( the old amp with 5u4 rectifiers could be replaced with diode rectifiers , more b+ or power supply voltage more power out) Every time I see a post I dont lke the dfx12 its not rack mountable I could scream I got mine mounted in the top of a slant mixer rack. Hinges made out od shelf brackets and painted gloss black. It goes down into the rack for transport. Also I have 1'4" jacks normalled out from the eq thru the procs and back into the outs. This lets me run balanced xlr outs to the eons. Next time I see a behringer in a hock shop I'll buy it just to see what it would take to soup it up.. I'm about ready to get the chips that the eons use for pre and build one for the dfx12.. Anything is modifiable

Keith, I made a reference to Behringer cloning old 60's tube technology...That's why Karyoker mentioned old technology....Some old stuff was decent and solid, but it was also VERY big and heavy...

Speaking of which, that dang radio shack tuner cleaner & degreaser last time I bought a few containers were 8 bucks a small can... Anyone know of a cheaper means to spray old pots, and sliders, or contacts ? I think Chemtronic's had something out awhile back, but don't recall... Is 8 bucks a can about the cheapest this stuff comes ?

I need to check out what Behringer did with Roland/Boss line...Make sure all I bought was actually Roland brand..
With some of these companies that get into trouble for their "Lawsuit" model work, it's actually some of the nicest quality these companies ever turned out...Loads of companies in the 70's were getting sued for cloning guitar prototyples....Thing is, these were their better products...
ADDED IN:
Sorry, "their" products was a poor choice of wording here..

Quality electronics cleaners are expensive....You can do real damage with the wrong stuff...There are some that include a lube ingredient that causes trouble in the long term...Most experienced techs go with cleaners that contain no lube for that reason....Avoid smoke filled bars(yeah, right) and storage conditions that allow exposure to dust and temp extremes...Also get in the habit of twisting the knobs and sliders thru full travel now n then.

Freon is the best but illegal now The only time to use lub is like the old tv tuners where the contacts wipe each other with wide contacts Its the same as putting grease on the batt terminals in a car.. Some donts from experience
Dont get drunk and clean a 8 track with vodka
When it says Harmful To Plastics beware!!
Dont waste expensive spray cleaners killing flys
Dont suck on the pads saturated with alcohol
Dont lay a hot soldering iron in a glass ash tray
FYI do you know he lock bar that goes on the steering wheel You can spray it with freeze mist and hit it with a hammer It shatters....
I recently cleaned the vol on a jbl eon10 g2 with the shacks Tuner Control Cleaner * Lubricant # 64-4315 Its been working ever since...

Quote: The FCC will come HUNT YOU DOWN CHARM!! They have AIRCRAFT with RADIO DIRECTION FINDERS that they use to locate BOOTLEG RADIO EMMISIONS---i.e. equipment that is not FCC approved and meeting EMI radiation emission standards!
I think REACT used to use some triangulation system in the 60's and 70's "supposedly", those of us that would get on someones 23 channel CB radio, switch it to channel 9, and start yelling funny stuff used to be threatened with that when we were really young...So did that deter us ? Nope, lot's of we 7 year olds would switch to channel 9, and start yelling funny stuff at react defying them to "triangulate" in on us...
FUnny thing is, two weeks ago (speaking of getting caught for unauthorized stupid stuff), I read that one of the people accused of shining laser's into plane cockpits got busted, and will be prosecuted on "terrorism" charges... THe guy was in NJ, and claimed he was showing his daughter about lasers.... What happened supposedly is that the guy shined his green higher wattage laser pointer (probably one of the stargazing types you can get from Edmund Scientific in NJ) on a Jet prior, a few days later a police copter containing both the pilot of that jet, and a few enforcement agents were trying to locate the rough location of the prior episode, and this idiot shined his laser into the copter...

Swing years ago at a local resevoir we started catching tout using a clear bubble with 2 hooks baited with grasshoppers and reeling just like spinners. The hard part was catching them True Story.. If you put them in a empty whiskey bottle (they breath thru their sides) they would get drunk and wouldnt fight and wiggle when putting on the hook When they hit the cold water they would sober up!!!

If it's two in the morning and my garage door is going up and down, I'm dreaming... I live in a condo with no garage.. I wish they'd come around and start blaring loud music in my window, and shining lights.... I can use some new material to Jam to..
I do miss my older "general coverage" scanner radio
btw, does the FBI still contract with Sears ?

The single MOST DEADLY trout fly-fishing rig known to man-----clear bubble---4ft of leader, and a #16 ROYAL COACHMAN fly(can have a second fly a foot ahead of it-a nymph or maybe something like a McGinty Bee). Retrieved with a VERY SLOW reel in speed. Fished wet flys. Trout just HAMMER IT!! Sometimes grabbing the fly before it even hits the water. Especially DEADLY on wild trout in HIGH MOUTAIN BACKPACK lakes--especially in the late afternoon. Equally deadly in creeks. Will catch when NOBODY ELSE is catching. Think about it............what does a trout eat? A worm--well maybe if they can find one. Salmon eggs---sometimes. A minnow--if they can catch one. But day in day out.........what are they eating???? BUGS. Insects. Flys. Thats the staple diet. So if you want to catch trout when nobody else is---feed em a bug!! And its incredibly amusing to walk up when theres a bunch of people fising bait and not catchin nothin---and wiht one cast----BAM!!! FISH ON!! and then again and again. They are simply AMAZED at the concept of catch a trout with AN ARTIFICIAL FLY............and even more so when its not done with a traditional Flyrod. And ALWAYS make sure you have that #16 or #14 ROYAL COACHMAN FLY! It is the MAGIC FLY!!

Gosh, gang up on little ol' me why don't ya?
Where's dear Tony when ya need him anyhow. :D
Unless/Until I learn different, I love my mixer so far. Granted, it's new, but I think it's gonna be just what I needed.
So I'm out of this thread if it's gonna be "Let's bash Behringer"........ geez, even clothing brands copy designs....... And don't tell me you all go directly to Paris to buy your clothing!
I'm not Tony but I can assure you that you've made a good choice, some people enjoy making a bad press on Behringer but they should thank them for bringing the cost down on all the brands This brand has some best buy products wheter people like it or not, just do a search on the web and you'll see good things on the Thruth B2031A, B-2 Pro microphone and watch out for their new PA's. I have friends who bought Mackie's and also have problems, Behringer just has more simply cause they're a volume company and retailers hate making smaller margin!
When you know who to talk to and where to search, you'll get the thruth.
Keep in mind that most brand are now made in China, including the Harman stuff (Lexicon, DBX, AKG...)
Funny how things can change, for years the Japanese car manufactures we're suppose to be copying the American car industry, now, it's the other way around, they all wish to copy the Honda's, Toyota's...
Who knows if Mackie would copy Behringer one day? In fact, they already did when they decided to lowered their prices and go to Asia for cheap laber!!

Micky, I think you've brought up a point that has merit, yet it's also a point that deserves more comment...IE...Harman/Kardon, Marantz, and many of the good names of our younger era that have since gone abroad....In many ways doing this has helped the consumer since, in *SOME* ways foreign import products have improved in *certain* areas...but ONLY in certain areas...case and point...There was a time when Fender, Gibson, Marantz, Harmon USA (Pre-JBL), even JBL, (and AL), Kaman Aerospace (for some products not just "Ovation"), and god knows how many car manufacturer's that own boutique makes and models yet mass produce lower-line junk now, ONLY were making exclusively HIGHER END yet generally all good merchandise (with some exceptions even in those days)... Today things are different, THe better companies are almost ALL making lines to accomodate the entry level buyer, It's BUYER beware...The good name of the 1970's, is used to hoodwink the buyer today, and unbeknownst to the buyer the Hecho en Mehico Fender Tacocaster IS NOT the American Standard strat quality at all, although it's a much better model than the Japocaster, which is a much better line than the Korean Squire, yet none of the imports were nearly as good as a two year line of the Fender Squire-2, and arguably the Heartfield line of guitars,,which were also made abroad, many models even in the same Samick plant, yet whether it's called "Vintage Reissue" One quality, or "Reissued vintage" another quality, or just "reissue" a different name used altogether, these aren't the 40 year old guitar either...NONE of them are the guitars of the 60's, or same sound and quality, yet a few are pretty good, and worth buying, yet you MUST know your market and be careful...It CAN get VERY intricate, and extremely tricky, and this is deliberately done to fool the unknowledgeable buyer into buying the name.....The buyer isn't always getting a good item or buy when buying a "name", and companies are loving this type naivity in the consumer as well, and having a feast with the concept..
Perhaps Behringer, LIKE Mackie, and ALL companies now adays has different lines...Yet for all intents and purposes what MOST here are responding to is the "Behringer Price advantage", and in most cases it appears what they'd be buying would be a LOWER end item...even of which Mackie apparently makes, yet most pro's wouldn't buy the Mackie lower end line either..
Point being, Harman, Marantz, Fender, Gibson, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony, (and alot of Matsushita lines) SLingerland percussion, Ludwig, Gretsch, Martin, Taylor...
and the generally trusted HIGHER end of the consumer mass produced lines, are no longer what they were.....Same with Harmon...It's all buyer beware...
It sounds like Behringer had some decent periods, A smart buyer needs to know WHAT is a sound purchase when buying certain products, and likewise, what to stay way from...EVEN when buying the boutique lines... and HIGH end stuff... There are advantages to these types threads, yet it's advantageous to always qualify with things such as
"If you bought a Norlin Gibson guitar you'd have been likely better off buying one of the knockoff brand LP's, because THESE weren't decent "bang-for-buck" guitars..."
Perhaps Behringer DID have a time period where they made a decent quality line, but when was that ? and specifically which models were to be trusted ? Similarly can these same models be trusted today ? It does get this intricate..
etc... This get's quite specific...from what I read companies go thru ups and downs...Yet it appears MANY buying certain Behringer products aren't getting the quality today, that they might've buying during certain times, and by buying certain models... I can tell you right now...
If a person thinks going to any store and buying the name "Fender" or "Gibson" or "Hamer" or "PRS" or "Marshall" means they are getting a "high end" product, they better dang well know the 75% of these names brands to NOT buy. It gets tricky and very specific.
I don't know specifics today regarding Harman/Kardon actual quality vs what they manufacture under the Karman International name (Infinity, JBL) yet my guess is Harman Kardon has kept THEIR merch separate from the other names they own.. Many companies haven't done this... You just don't know what you are getting when you buy a "name" unless you've kept to date with exactly all the specifics of todays market.. If I were buying a home entertainment receiver I'd need to know exactly what's up with Harman/Kardon today....Last time I called them they were headquartered in NY state... 1980's...Do they still own "Crown" ? Not sure, I thought Crown was a subsidiary company of theires for awhile...

I'm still angered at how Behringer just thumbed their nose at such a basic requirement.
Behringer is in such a rush to meet their "time to market" goals that they decided to just blow off the requirement.....They gambled carefully and won even tho they were fined 1 mil bucks....How did they win when they have to pay 1 mil in fines, you ask?
It's simple.....Now a days it can cost up to 50K to get an item certified for FCC compliance....And that's if it passes first time....Then it can take 8-12 weeks for the FCC to issue the cert.....and that's if all goes well at the testing lab and at FCC....
If it doesn't pass, then it's back to the drawing board and back in line for another round of expensive testing....your time to market predictions goes into the "who knows when?" mode and your projected costs are also impossible to predict....No business likes doing business like that.
So if you multiply 50 X 50K possible cost of testing you get 2.5 mil......And then if you add in the lost production time do to rework, it adds up to many reasons to take a gamble and risk a 1 mil fine...They could have been fined up to 4 mil, so yeah, you can say they won the gamble.
That's why I'm watching so closely to see what happens next....Do they just pay the fine and start complying, or will they be made to somehow show all the units sold to date actually comply?...
Is Behringer a publicly owned company?
