Just curious, where did you purchase your Plextor 716A from?  MTU.com, another online store, locally, etc.

Thx

Got mine from MTU.com when I got my second laptop from them.  There was a problem with the 716A, but I sent it back and they sent me another one.  Works great.

I get all my Plextors from newegg.com... universally, they are the best pricing around!

Got mine at best buy...seems to be a POS to me, can't get it to work...and it spits out the CDs on its own.  Freakin' junk.

Isolated case, Plextor is the best brand out there and they have a one year warranty! Why not bring it back???

are you getting aspi errors or unable to convert errors with audiograbber? It ejects when the program is done... whether it was a good read or not

It ejects when there is no program running at all.  Just put the disk in and within seconds it spits it right back out.  I did manage to hold the CD drawer in the shut position and got it to read the disk though. Think this is going back to best buy. But it was also the last one they had in stock here locally.

To make a long story short, I was going to order a Plexter PX-W5224TA from Newegg for $20 (after rebate).  I have been frequenting the powerkaroke forum.  The reason why I wanted the W5224TA instead of the 716A is because I already have a Pioneer A05 and felt like I didn't need another dvd burner.  I left a couple of messages on the PK forum and they told me that my Pioneer A05 should work.  I tried the Pioneer with their demo player pro software and it worked.  I canceled the order for the W5224TA.  I also have a Sony CRX-140E but something must be wrong with the drive as far as CD+G (bad graphics).  Well, I happy the admin on the PK forum told me my Pioneer should work.  Since I'll be using karaoke for home use, the PK software is good enough for me.

I'm using a Plextor 48/24/48A which of course works with a standard driver for CDG, makes it compatible with any karaoke software and I'm also using a Pionner DVR-108 that works perfectly for cdg when using a software that handles the MCC-Interleave mode. This Pioneer drive is amazing for backing up DVD's, it's quit and very solid and Pioneer are good at updating their firmware.

Pioneer is one serious brand that sure gives Plextor a hard time!!

Pioneer used to be the (well) PIONEER on the media copying... for many years, if you wanted to copy karaoke discs, pioneer was the ONLY option. I remember about six years ago someone mentioning Plextor, and I literally laughed in their face about it... I'd been using nothing BUT Pioneer... trouble is, after 24 speed drives, they were getting graphics errors, and nothing you could do about it!

Plextor became a godsend!

Now, with Powerkaraoke, it's opening up the world even more!
