It appears that Behringer sold many audio items in the US over the last 5 years without first having them approved by FCC....It looks like the FCC is better than the FTC at catching crooks.
You can find the whole story on the FCC site.
Now I need to discover exactly which items are of concern.
Wow!...That guy just doesn't learn! Several years back he was caught stealing designs, now this!

Update:...It appears that they produced and sold 66 different items in the US that did not have FCC compliance certification....Then after the FCC jumped on them last year they only had 16 of those 66 items certified to meet FCC compliance....So that means 50 of their items sold recently in this country still haven't beed certified.
I just checked my year old 1222 fx pro mixer...It had a paper FCC sticker on it whereas all the other compliance symbols are silk screened on the case(UL, CE, etc)...So maybe my mixer was one of the 16 items they had certified...Or maybe they just slapped a paper sticker on it saying it was.
All behringer owners should be advised to check your gear for the compliance symbol...There may be some kind of class action to come that may result in a recall or rebate for you.

Keith, you'd mentioned to me about a week ago the Behringer would never be acknowledged among many in the pro areas because they do this type of thing.. I assume this isn't the first suit against them ? Or did they weasle out've the last suits somehow ?

I assume this isn't the first suit against them ? Or did they weasle out've the last suits somehow ? I know of two cases where they were sued by other MI gear makers, hthere may be additional cases...
Mackie and Roland sued them...Mackie and Behringer settled out of court....Not sure how it turned out with Roland, but Behringer no longer makes the Boss clone stomp boxes "exactly" like the ones that got them sued by Roland....That was a blatant case of outright copyright/patent infringement...Those stomp boxes were an exact copy of the highly successful Roland/Boss items....Berhinger was even claiming they did it with Roland permission, which was a lie.
In this newest case, they simply ignored the requirement to gain FCC certification for thier gear.....It's like they are their own worst enemy!...How stupid.
Now, most will say the the FCC thang is only a certification that the item will not cause RF interference, but to me it states that Behringer is thumbing his nose at regulations that all his competition must meet....It costs $$ to obtain certification and causes production delays, especially if the certifing lab discovers it is out of compliance and must be redesigned....So apparently the guy said screw it, and went to press anyway.
It would tickle me if they forced him to recall all those units and have each of them tested for compliance....It would tickle me more if he had to reimburse the other makers their share of his profits....This is just like a case where one KJ buys legal CD+G's and his competition uses pirated copies....The pirate has an unfair advantage and can underbid the legal KJ.
Behringer cut his cost by ignoring the compliance laws and associated costs of same....That's unfair to all who he competes with.

Ummm...... that's what mine has too. A little sticker (like a....... TINY little sticker, maybe 1" X 1/12") that says FCC.
BUT...... I'm not gonna slam 'em or anything. I don't give a here nor there about it. They best not start a "recall", haha, cause they are NOT getting mine back!! Not after all I've been through to get it here & working. I'll just say "Oh, sorry, that was stolen a week or two ago". LMAO
I went to MarketWatch to get the full story, but the place is being really slow & wont properly load for me- I've tried it 3 times. :dontknow:

I hate to tell you this Charmin, but your mixer is being recalled...I just found that out while searching more on this topic....They say you need to repack it in it's original container and return it to the place of purchase ASAP...The seller will then hold it til everyone decides what to do, or the seller can ship you a "like" item if they want....most sellers are screaming they won't send a replacement....Looks like you are screwed!
...Just joking!
Hey, the worse that can happen is people might hear your cell phone conversations over your PA.....Ouch, that might cause a divorce in some venues!

Okay, well I'm just gonna have to protect that lil' sticker then. Maybe put some clear nail polish over it (which is, btw, a womans solution to EVERYthing just as duct tape is a MAN's solution to everything, LoL)
Just so long as nobody shows up trying to take my Behringer.
It's funny yanno, we used to have a linear for our bass cb radio, and one in our truck....... it would set off the neighbors tv's & vcr's, and I could sit outside my sis's house & key up and it would flick her touch-lamp on and off, LMAO. (I did it a couple times for kicks...... then the funnyness wore off) Funny how some things can cause interference but other things can't. Course, there was some kind of rule where you couldn't use one if you lived directly under the flight path of an airport or something like that. (we didn't)

I'm BEHAVING nowadays, can't answer that question...... LMAO
We don't run CB's anymore. I do have one in my Suburban- they come in handy when you're on trips, for talking to truckers if you get caught in heavy traffic or something. Boy, many times we've taken an exit & detoured thanks to truckers informing everyone on Channel 17 that's the freeways closed ahead..... That can be a headache saver.
But we haven't had a bass in years. Kinda got tired of hearing the skip come in, hubby left it on 24/7....... And you know, I have to be the one making the noise in the house, not some stinky CB radio. Kinda glad we're not so into those any more.

Dont key up if you are
1> In the park where they are flying remote control air planes or boats.
2> Behind the old vw bug with a computerized ignition (it kills them)
3> Your antenna is real close to another antenna
4> Uncle charley is nearby with his ears on (who me? I dont have a cb)
5> During the time smokey is writing you up
6> Red Fox is holding your antenna while standing in the beer cooler
7> Going through the loveland tunnel (also if you have the 9 foot steel whip, tie
it down so as to save all the light bulbs)
8> You are sitting inside your garage with the door closed
Memories Memories......

Memories Memories......
Yep, yep......... Used to play all kinds of funny little games with it. Used to make alot of people mad too. LMAO Remember the "Squish" term? Hahaha..... it was a hoot squishing the little guys who didn't have much power. And we had a great power/echo mic...... with a roger beep. Used to drive people nuts. And I had a PA under the car hood, with an FX power mic (it had the police siren sound)..... gosh, you could get cars to pull over with that thing. But........ man, if we would have ever gotten caught doing that!!

I'll just conveniently have, say, an old CB bass radio with an old linear laying around (though, sheesh, our old one was ALOT spendier than the Behringer was) and if they show up I'll say "Oh, shoot, here- it must be THIS doing it"........... LoL Nah, I have [shadow=gold]THE STICKER[/shadow]....... remember? I'm FCC compliant. Quote: Charm says it will take them forever to pry her behringer out of her pretty little hands

Uh, oh, now THAT remark could get me in trouble.
I'll just plaster a MACKIE sticker over the BEHRINGER label if I see Fed's comin' up the drive. (unless, they show up for one of those OTHER reasons they're looking for me for)
