Quote: I've already had them so I guess I'm good to go.
Actually they've found different things out regarding old school belief's with Chicken Pox.. It's a strange virus, Some get it again, and bad unfortuneately, Yet it's usually called "Shingles" later on during relapse.. I had it at 6, but read a study three years ago in a Med Journal. In a normal immune system MOST of the time getting the virus innoculates the person, yet if the immune system is compromised they can have the virus again. Herpes Zoster (Shingles) isn't uncommon in some...They don't understand alot about this, but kid's HAVE gotten it more than once, although that's rare. A person rundown with HIV is prone to getting Chicken Pox again...
Anyway enough Med ranting.....

Jay's one gifted singer. Does a good job of Stylistic's stuff too.. Quite an accurate ear too.. Excellent pitch matching. I also don't think people that submit on that site have the home recording advantage that people do here. My guess is they pick a song from the site, sing with and record on the site, and that's it, no full day efforts and tweaks and advantages of doing it at home intricately editing and when finalized uploading. I guess alot of those are raw takes.

Kappy, (if I may...everyone else calls you that and it kind of seems to fit)
Although your suggestions are amusing, I don't believe that the priest would appreciate "Having your Baby" as my opener. :) I am, of course, kidding. I will most likely have someone accompany me on piano, seeing as I am not the best player and "Mary Had a Little Lamb" is neither traditional nor romantic as a wedding song. As for the guitar, I am just learning, so that's probably going to be a no-go as well, unless the chords are ridiculously easy.
I want to come up w/ a couple of choices for them so that they can have the final say, and I really didn't think it would be so hard to find songs. I will definitely check out the websites you suggested...I have been looking everywhere. I even had a bad dream about it last night...yikes. I need to calm down.

Quote: "Mary Had a Little Lamb" Well, If you can cover Stevie Ray Vaughan's rendition it's always a good dance song ! Quote: I will most likely have someone accompany me on piano
First off, Check out the "wed Alert" suggestions site link I gave you at the bottom. This site is particularly good because it gives you samples of NUMEROUS Wedding Song's that would be found in a traditional, or classic setting. You can hear these songs assuming the name alone doesn't ring a bell
This is what I wanted to know thanks ! How you are planning on performing makes a HUGE difference in options. If it's piano and vocal's you can go with any of the "Candlelight Piano" renditions. It's about the most diverse choice in terms of singing ballad. Of course guitar(s) give you variety too...
Here are some song's.... Lounge Piano and light Jazz was something I did for years..
I'm not sure of what your knowledge of "traditional" ballad is. Nor do I know how much of a knowledge you have of traditional songs... Depending on the number of older people present, and by that I mean (clearing throat)...OK, better not say.... but I'm thinking your grandparent's aged folks...Here are some songs that are appropriate (actually for all weddings at a reception)
More
Blue Bayou
It had to be You
ANYTHING CARPENTERS..(IE..Close to you... It's gonna take some time this time)
This Moment in Time
Ave Maria (Schubert)
In My Life
Unchained Melody
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Here, There and Everywhere
I Swear
If
Let It Be Me
When I Fall in Love
You Needed Me.
Annie's Song
Themes from well known Show Tunes: IE
You'll Never Walk Alone (Carousel)
Sunrise Sunset (Fiddler)
Corner of the Sky (Pippin)
Ice Castles theme
etc.
Never my Love... Association
Cherish ......Association
Simon and Garfunkle... Anything doable for you
Anything from the groups "Bread" "America" "James Taylor" "J. Buffet"
"Carly Simon" "Anne Murray""Carol King" "Barry Manilow" "Helen Reddy" etc. Ballad style
Basically ANYTHING that's Candlelight venue, light Jazz, or "Romantic" venue...
I made a request list for someone that does that style VERY well in here, I'll see if
I can find it, and I'll post it.. The list took into consideration female vocalist too.
Aside from that, here is where you want to be looking. This type material.

Well, you are just a wealth of information, aren't you?? Apparently I came to the right place for my problem. I really, really appreciate your help and will check all of those out. Thanks so much!!
Oh, and don't worry, I might be a younger individual, but I haven't been living under a rock...most of those titles are familiar to me...although I must say that your factoids concerning Varicella were very enlightening. I guess I'm not good to go after all. Ah, what a world.

What's scary, although interesting is that many of our childhood diseases we took in stride CAN be potentially VERY dangerous. One of the reason's at times we were deliberately exposed to a few as preteens, was because prior to immunization you did NOT want to get some of these when older. A few were potentially very dangerous. Either because of the virus itself, concerns regarding becoming sterile, or viral encephalitis (from high fevers).. I never got the mumps (that I know of), nor did I get the german measles (that I know of), yet I got a doozy case of measles...fever of 105 for a week when I was 6.. Hallucination's and all... Chicken Pox I just recall itching like crazy, and I had to sleep with socks or cotton mittens on so I wouldn't scar from scratching one of those pox off....The itching was pretty nasty... as I recall not unlike poison Ivy...BLECH...
Cases pop up every-so-often of even the more dangerous viruses, and diseases that are relatively scarce these days. You still might hear of a person getting the polio virus, or TB...Rare sure, yet it happens...
Anyway, if you enter into a keyword search the following three words
Piano, Vocal, Wedding ALOT comes up ! Doing that now, I like this genre music yet have never checked it out on the internet !

How about....."You're The Inspiration" by "Chicago"? Peter Cetera has an awesomely high ranged voice that could easily be duplicated by a female singer.
I'm jealous.

How about Philip Bailey's vocals (Earth, Wind and Fire). You think many females can reach notes up around his falsetto range ?

Okay - my input...
Rather sappy but very fitting song for a wedding.
Crystal Gayle - A Long And Lasting Love
Lyrics:
A long and lasting love
Not many people find it
But those who do their whole life through
Put their heart and soul behind it
A long and lasting love
A long and lasting love
Is what I've always dreamed of
And when I look into your eyes
I knew I'd really seen love
A long and lasting love
Chorus:
We got a once in a lifetime
All the dreams we've waited for
Are just beginning to come true
It happens once in a lifetime
When you find that special girl
Who knows the meaning of love like you
A long and lasting love
We share for many reasons
A special bond
That goes beyond the changing of the seasons
A long and lasting love
A long and lasting love
Is what I've always dreamed of
I knew I'd really seen love
A long and lasting love
Is what I've always dreamed of
My long and lasting love

Dedicated to the groom
The Man Song
I don't take no crap from anybody! ... else but you. I wear the pants around here!...when I'm finished with your laundry. 'Cause I'm a guy you don't want to fight! ... when I say "jump" you say "yeah, right". I'm the man of this house! ... until you get home.
What I say goes around here! ... right out the window. And I don't want to hear a lot of whining! ... so I'll shut up. The sooner you learn who's boss around here! ... the sooner you can give me my orders, dear. 'Cause I am the head honcho! ... but it's all in my head. And I can have sex anytime! ... that you want. 'Cause I'm a man who has needs! ... but they're not that important. And don't expect any flowers from me! ... because if I'm not mistaken you prefer jewelry. I'm the king of my castle! ... when you're not around.
And I'll drink and watch sports whenever I want! ... to get into trouble. And I'll come home when I'm good and ready! ... to sleep on the couch. Because a man's got to do what a man's got to do! ... and I'm going to do what you tell me to. Because I'm top dog around here! ... but I've been neutered!
and to the bride
Man, I'm Glad I'm a Man, Man
Everyday I give thanks to God I was born a man instead of a broad When Oprah comes on, I turn off the TV I don't shave my legs, I stand up to pee I go to a barber, not a beauty salon Don't pluck out my eyebrows just to draw them back on Don't wax my pubes so I can wear shorts I use my turn signal, I understand sports
Man, I'm glad I'm a man, man Tell you the reason I am I don't go through a faze every 28 days Man, I'm glad I'm a man
Don't take a lot of friends when I go the the john I don't throw a fit when I break a nail I don't buy a lot of shoes just because they're on sale I don't apply makeup in my rear-view mirror I don't think of Bambi when I'm out hunting deer I drink beer from a bottle, not from a glass I don't ask my friends about the size of my (@$%!)
Man, I'm glad I'm a man, man Tell you the reason I am I don't face the pain of water-weight gain Man, I'm glad I'm a man
Let me tell you ladies Listen to me ladies I love those things inside of your blouse I love your pretty faces Your warm and soft embraces But if I had my own two boobs, I'd never leave the house I don't spend two hours getting ready for a date I don't play with dolls unless they inflate When someone asks me my age, I never lie After sex in bed, my spot's always dry I don't read about orgasms in Vogue magazines I don't mind if my dates try to get in my jeans I don't spend a fortune on French lingerie This is the same underwear I wore yesterday
Man, I'm glad I'm a man, man Tell you the reason I am I don't take a pill, I don't use Massengill Man, I'm glad I'm a man
Man, I'm glad I'm a man, man Tell you the reason I am I find Michael Bolton completely revoltin' Man, I'm glad I'm a man.

Quote: One hand, One Heart - West Side Story
Isn't this one of those learning to "love yourself" songs ? Sure sounds it
Sort've like "The greatest love of all" ? but not quite as platonic ?

Hey guys...really appreciate all your continued suggestions. Some of those I am not familiar with so I will have to check them out.
And of course, I appreciate the jokesters as well. In this day and age, we need a little levity in regard to the intstitution of marriage...lord knows with things like "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" and all the dating websites around it is not what it used to be.

If you try and take life too seriously, then where's the fun? :D
