Thank's Steve. I also read about "Hat etiquette". I know that's important as well.

some of it, yes.  other parts not so much, like you're not suppose to wear a straw after labor day i think it is, but it's so fereaking hot down here that no one obeys that rule.  there are other rules as well that don't apply, but the biggest one that does......watch your hat!  and don't touch another person's hat.  may sound simple, but i've had a hat stolen.  down here even girls that playfully grab at a guy's hat are likely to be given a VERY evil eye.  i've also had a hat knowcked off my head by a girl that was just playing around but it got stepped on and i was out $400!

NICE TAT<Dave!

Same thing I'm doing now that I'm out...fix electronic/electrical equipment.  I was an ET2, if you know Navy rank

There are certain fashion's that people break all the time. Color and style of garment's, and accessories such as shoes, jacket's, pant's etc as well usually use memorial day, and labor day as calender periods as to what is and is not fashionable for "summer season" attire. At least here in the Northeast part of the country, (I won't speak for geographic locations I know nothing about). Yet I'm quite certain that "Etiquette" in some locations DOES matter considerably more than other locations.  It's obviously geographic as well.. I'm sure there are some locations in the mid-west, and likely more-so in the central and Western States where you would not DARE wear your hat "indoors", and to not "tip it" appropriately would likely make quite a difference as well.. Certain gesture's that are merely "out've respect" to us, when not followed, adherently become blatant disrespect in specific locations.. I learned some interesting things just traveling the East Coast, and Europe..What I learned specifically, is behaviour around where I live is wanton rudeness in MANY other locations.  I haven't a clue what I'm talking about now, yet this never stopped me before LMAO ...I would MAKE DAMN sure in certain area's of Wyoming,  Nevada, and a few other area's I knew "hat etiquette". As an adult some things can't be excused with "ignorance".. IE..state laws, custom's, etc..some things just can't be taken for granted when you are an adult....A 14 year old kid might get a "slap on the wrist", yet what we consider staunch and conservative from our own perspective is still compulsory in certain areas, among certain age-groups alike....

(just an educated guess) You know how life is, someplace somewhere someone (or several) are reading this thinking, "Listen you wannabe, It's not just a style, it's a tradition that must be respected, don't desecrate it" !  and they aren't incorrect in their values.

8 years, been out about 7 months, and I still call myself a Squid...go figure!!  LOL

Nope...civilian...took me 6 months to get my DD214 right, so I wasn't even able to claim unemployment right away.

I might look into the whole civil service thing though

Still gotta get that number...I JUST got to file my claim.  So, I'm awaiting the determination.

Is that "title-2 disability" SSA ?   Didn't know a disabled person could receive benefit's and work a job willing to provide them with full time work/benefit's under federal disability.

Sorry, just saw VA disability. That'd likely be subject to different terms

The magic number is 30% or better.

A veteran ET2 with 30% disability can nail a job in Biomed at a VA hospital as a WG-10...In this area, we WG-10's make 25-35/hr.....I average 30/hr myself as a WG-10....Then when you include the TSP(thrift savings plan) which is their version of a souped-up 401K, you are eating real good, driving a vette and living in a nice condo real quick.

Yeah my friend, you get that paper work done and then you get on the payroll!...The feds really need your experience and are willing to pay for it.

Nope Steven, we are talking VA disability....Thats where you get mashed up in the military and they make it up to you...........They offer you a job that you must be qualified for.......with SSA, they just give you tax free money every month.

Between either VocRehab or the GI Bill, and whatever the disability pay is, plus my job...either the one I've got or another one...I figure I can go to school, get a degree, and be that much further ahead of the game too.

Aye-Aye, Senior!! LOL

I'd HAVE to be a DAYUM FOOL to turn down a minimum of $35k for school...with the credits I already have...I could shoot for a Masters...or maybe even get Piled Higher and Deeper...

Hmmm...Dr. Squid has kind of a ring to it...

Now, I just need to figure out what I want to do when I grow up LOL
