Lonman,

I found this Yamaha S115V on eBay about the same price as a pair of S112V from MF.

Can my Crown CE-1000 handle it?  You mentioned in previous threads that the amp should exceed the speaker's RMS for best sound and also prevent clipping.  For home use, I likely will not crank up too much.  Would you rather spend on the S115V?

Thanks again.

Technically the amp should be able to push the RMS power but this is going to be used for a home system which isn't going to be turned up nearly as loud as a club.  But you could always bridge the amp & parallel the speakers.  Together they would handle 1000 watts RMS at 4 ohms which is what the amp would push.  Of course this would now be a mono system if bridged.

The S115 are nice speakers.  That's a decent price - about $100 off of new although when you add in shipping, that's only a $50 savings - BUT then you aren't paying tax that you would in the store either....so it's still a decent deal.

Since I won't be getting a pair of PA speakers in 2-3 weeks, I need a speaker to test my Crown CE1000 amp with.  Can I hook it to a pair "karaoke" BMB CS450V speakers (150W normal input power)?

I may need a pair of 1/4" to banana speaker cables also.  Something like this or equivalent?

Well yes you can certainly hook them up to "test" it to make sure the amp pushes sound.  I wouldn't push the amp very hard with those speakers hooked up though or run it for very long.

Many thanks to Lonman and everyone for your inputs.  I finally have THE home karaoke system after many years with BMB, Vocopro, and other "karaoke" labeled system.  Now it's my time to show off.  This set up [glow=red]rocks[/glow]:

- RSQ MK 22 DVD/CDG player
- Behringer UB1622FX-PRO (Mackie DBX-12 arrives Monday)
- BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer
- Crown CE1000 amp
- Yamaha S112V speakers
- DTech UHF microphones (I know this needs an upgrade soon.  I am very tempting for a pair of Shure SM58LC on sale at Guitar Center this weekend)

... along with SKB 84DJ Shuttle case, my wife thinks it's the best looking "space ship" I ever bring home.  She's calling some friends.  I hope the show ends before Super Bowl XL kickoff.  [glow=deepskyblue]GO Seahawks![/glow]
