I have the Chartbuster 450 essential 450 and almost 30 Sound Choice CDGs.  That were basically given to me.  When I looked at the cost of the Chartbuster and the Sound Choice CDGs, I found that the Sound Choice CDGs are almost twice as much as the Chartbuster CDGs.  I can't really tell the difference in quality.  Any Comments?

Well in my experience.. I'd take Sound Choice over Chartbuster any day...

The newer Chartbusters are pretty good.. but SC seems like it's a lot "truer" to the original song... dunno..

I prefer Sound Choice over any others. However Chartbuster does do pretty good on their Country tunes. On a few songs, I prefer Chartbuster's version to Sound Choice. This does not happen very often though. By the way, if you are looking for a place to buy cdg's at the best price, you should check out doowop.com. They offer free shipping on every cdg. Even a single cdg gets free shipping and the cost of their discs are a lot cheaper than anyone else I know of. I buy from them when I order. They are a good, honest business.--Mike

For Country it's Chartbuster, but on others its Soundchoice, personally I'd take Top Hits Rock but then most songs will come out on Soundchoice 4-5 months afterwards. Chartbuster's Rock is barely nonexistent and it's multiplex with only 6 tracks.

I'm not an expert, but it looks like most KJ's use Sound Choice.  That's the logo I see most often.

I prefer Sound Choice to Chartbusters but I have heard many times that their country selection/sound is really good.  Also Chartbusters may have some rare songs that Sound Choice doesn't offer.

I seem to prefer the SC version of whatever song I'm doing.  Their discs just seem "friendlier" to me.

There's a reason for this:

SC takes the time to get the copyrights to the songs, and in some cases, are flat out refused (as in a blanket "NO" to karaoke), but Chartbuster goes ahead and just releases them!

They're being sued now... BIG time!

Soundchoice isn't innocent when it comes to getting copyrights, matt, and you know it... to sit there and say they take the time and get all the copyrights is BS...

Why does SC cost twice as much?

I agree with Mike.  I use both brands, and like them both very well.......but when it comes to OLD country (which I own alot of) Sound Choice doesn't even compare with Chartbuster. Songs of like Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Hank Sr, Charley Pride, Tammy Wynette, etc.... I think it's just the music that does it for me.  They seem to pay closer attention to having musicians who can copycat that old time fiddle & steele guitar sound. I've had a few songs from SC that the music was not very good. (ON these older style songs)

That's MY story and I'm stickin' to it.  :dancin:

Why does SC cost nearly twice as much? It depends on where you buy your discs! lol I never pay more than $22.00 for even new release SC discs and get free shipping even if I only buy one disc regardless of brand of disc! Chartbuster discs are $17.50 a disc. The company I buy from will only bill you when they have shipped the disc you have ordered. --Mike

Tig,

the verdict is still out on those SC lawsuits. Sure seems to me as if Chartbuster REALLY wasn't playin' it nicey-nice. I guess this gets back to the "how much of a pirate" discussion... where SC is getting sued for a fraction of 1% of their library that's bad, where CB is getting sued for a lot more.

SC routinely pulls songs that have lost their copyright... remember, the foundation I bought was a bit different than Lonnie's foundation of old. Three or four songs were pulled. I had to get them through other publishers!

I'm not their advocate here dude. Just pointing out the fact that you published on another thread and in your forum!

no matt, what I was referring to about soundchoice was their practice of shipping off titles and artists they can't legally get here to their fellow companies in the UK etc to get around copyright laws...
