So...Im a guy...but I want to sing this song Dan Band style...if you dont know what that is...go here:

Thing is it will maybe get old after 3 or 4 minutes...and I know this is like a 6 minute song. Do the Karaoke version shorten it to like 3-4 minutes? Anyone ever have to endure the entire 6 minute song???  LOL

If I remember right, the original Bonnie Tyler version is about 5 minutes long, give or take. If you're talking about singing the ORIGINAL version Dan Band style, I can't think of a c-dg brand that has an edited version that is 3-4 minutes long, like you need. The three I've seen (C.B., S.C., & DK) made them about the original song length (5+ minutes). Not sure about other brands.

The Sweet Georgia Brown version is 5:36.

Even in the LONG version, there is about 3:30 of singing followed by about a 1:30 instrumental then one last chorus at the end....you could just ask the KJ to fade the song out about 20-30 seconds into the instrumental and no one would be the wiser...that is exactly what the shorter versions do anyway.....

I do the DK version which is pretty long and has the "missing verse" in it.  If you go to the singer Showcase there is someone who has both versions you can listen to.  Either way it is still a pretty long song...

You should go for it though, the time goes by quickly....

I just listened to the Dan Band version and it is the short version....

Well if I remember correctly...isnt there two different singers for this song? I was going to do it a week ago (we never got to it) and there was Bonnie Tyler and someone else..who is the other person?

I guess I could just dance and act like an (@$%&#!) during the instrumental break  :dancin:

Either way Ill try it at this one Karaoke place in Omaha here that really loves when my friend and I do these types of songs... (my friend once did Fist City...everyone loved him)

Or...i did SONG SEARCH and it came up with Nikki French....whats the difference? Are they completly different songs??

Well I have downloaded two Bonnie Tyler versions...

one is 4:30   and the other is  6:58

Does anyone know which version most Karaoke places use?

Does anyone know which brand uses the 4:30 version...I do NOT want to try and attempt a 7 minute song here...and I will be doing this tomorrow (saturday) night...

I can tell you the DK is one of the long ones.  That's the one I do.

I'd like to call this the Dan Banned.  About once a week I get about three drunken idiot twenty-something guys who sign up for this song so they can just say fock over a microphone.  They don't know the song, don't sing the rest of it and only sing the lines where they can insert the F word.  It's not funny, entertaining or even mildly amusing.  I already hate this song, but the Dan Band version may finally put me over the top and have me pull it from the books next printing!

I actually got the Nikki French version for a regular who likes the song but knows I hate it.  Even worse...avoid it like the plague!
