Hey everyone! Well, I moved out of city a year and a half ago for school but still return home on weekends to sing with the friends...however...in my new city...not many of my friends enjoy going out to karaoke...

SO...would it seem weird to just go out by myself? I can stand seeing movies by myself, but not going Out to eat bymyself.   Anyone do this at all? Have any suggestions (sit at table by yourself, at the bar by yourself). I just dont want to look like a loner who has no friends (which I kinda am...except a karaoke loner  :drunk: )

I ALWAYS go out to sing alone. But I know half the crowd in the place.

Just go and sit at the bar you will meet and make new  friends. It may take some time, but you will.

If you can go out by yourself and have fun, then do it! Nothing wrong with that. Go to a comfortable scene like karaoke, enjoy yourself, and you probably won't be a "karaoker loner" for long.

Anywhere you go, if being alone doesn't bother you, then it probably won't be noticed by anybody else. It's all based on WHO you are, not how many "friends" you have sitting around you!

I've met many good people who have shown up "by themselves", so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. Whether it's with friends, or alone, as long you're happy, then no one will mind... I promise you.

Sometimes I still prefer to go out alone, 'cause so many of my friends drive me crazy! LOL

I never felt reluctant walking into any bar anywhere. Spent so much of my life at bars, I felt safer in most bars, than I did the streets of the cities they were often in. Didn't matter what type of bar (in my particular case), Spent ALOT of time in Biker's joints, Plenty of times I was the only white person in a blues, or jazz bar depending on location... In my particular case, I dreaded NOT going out alone, not sure why..With the exception of when I was playing the bars, a bar was a place I wanted to just go to and chill, sort've quiet time alone, to unwind and reflect.. Yet I seldom had probs, Maybe like a fool I had no fear in bar settings. Yet I never felt there was anything to fear, I've always been very adaptable... That aside, very few bars IMHO don't consist of enough level-headed people at any given time, to make the places comfortable for most that are mellow, respectful of others, and minding their own business.. JMHO.... (all a matter of how you carry and present yourself, I sort've looked at this as an experiment,  I enjoyed it)

I stayed away from this one local Irish bar on ladies night...LOL... Nothing scares me more than a room full of Irish women that've been drinking...Those settings aren't safe for me.. (just my own experiences)....a generalization ?  Of course.... After getting all sort's of items that weren't anchored down launched at my head, scissor's and knives brandished at me... I suppose I started to form a type of respect after the third weird episode...  Too bad I'm attracted to Irish/Germanic features in females, and a particular type of woman... I think the big guy upstairs goofed when he intended to make an "Everlast" speed bag ... A certain type of female, alcohol, and my presence seems to have some nasty counterindications.. Maybe something about my body language states, "Hi, please smash a breakable object into any region above my neck"

Actually that was taken in the Brach's parking lot.  That's an Irish woman who's shoulder I'm on....   At least the bouncer was nice enough to carry me to my car, and make sure I locked the door's before I got my other two leg's broken

Wow, even Puppy Kaplan can't get a break! I used to have a thing for redheads, and now you've got me scared sh**less!

Let me guess, you tried to "collar" her, then she got "tick"ed off, and you had to "flea"! LOL

It's really bizarre,  Out've quite a few Irish girls in my past...one girl in particular really would get sadistically aggressive when she had as little as one drink... Two other's really liked "Irish Coffee"... It always seemed to happen after the third Irish Coffee... Extreme anger and rage....The girl's I was involved with that didn't drink were real sweathearts, as were the above three girls...I've gathered a few things from my life experience.... People hate stereotyping... Funny thing is, as incorrect as some might find my statement to be... I have loads of friends that are of Irish decent... with only one exception... You DO NOT get these males angry... MOST when the adrenaline get's going can really fight !!  Surprisingly well too for some reason...Some will find that I am being bizarre in stating this,  yet many I've spoken with concur at least that there does exist a predisposition for a temper.. have other people found that when an Irish temper get's flaring,  the person almost appears to have supernatural stregnth ?  Yet based on the three women I met that liked to drink,  I see why this trait would've had to evolve in the males.... Darwinian type theory enabling the male gender to survive... LMAO

In all seriousness,  I do believe certain groups of people, are in fact more prone or predisposed to certain traits, or aspects of behaviour .. More-so than other particular groups... Sometimes more predisposed to have temper's,  creative streaks, being more analytical, in some cases histrionic personalities, sometimes alcohol abuse....etc; Many French Canadian's, and Native American's (particular tribes perhaps) have less of a natural height phobia. Also pretty good balance...Common to find the metal worker's, and scaffold workers; people that work building TV antennae and painting towers; those erecting skyscrapers to be generally of certain nationalities, or cultures..Some are less prone (inherently supposedly) to fear heights. Yeah I know, people are quick to say "sweeping generaliziations" are wrong, and I agree they in most cases are., or stereotyping is shallow, and I also agree in most cases it is shallow...Yet to ponder what aspects are often indigenous amoung certain groups of people is an interesting area.... Depends on the person's make-up, and current setting...Yet often race, and ethnicity play a part (it seems) in a persons physiology....Makes sense.

Who know's,  I'm just yacking without really thinking too hard,  I'm tired today.. and don't get me wrong,  I have loads of friends of almost all races, creeds, and colors...Yet my Irish buddies, I never ticked off if I could help it  ....My buddy Dan CHapman in High School wasn't someone you messed with in any way,  nor was Jeff Reilly.... Even the "60's" group we referred to as the "greasers" that hung out behind the gym waiting to pick fights used to treat these people with respect...especially Tom Owen the HS QB who could bench about three times his weight...  Yet Chapman and Reilly were really emotional guys... We used to get a kick out've watching Danny get emotional and start crying when we'd play "Hey Joe".   If a musician could play "Hey Joe",  Chapman was your best friend for life !!!

Just some meaningless rant......or somewhat thoughtless conclusions by Kappy...Yet these are my individual perceptions....not saying they are legit...

Going out by yourself certainly has its advantages....like you can pick up a harem of big boned chicks and there's no one there to give you crap!!

Remember my motto: "Fat girls are like mopeds....they're lots of fun until your friends see you riding one!"

I don't think there is anything wrong with going out by yourself.
I see it all the time where I work.

I think it helps to find a friendly karaoke bar. If I have a singer that is new and doesn't know anyone, I talk to them a little when they come up on stage and interduce them around a bit. We have a very friendly crowd that will take people under their wing when they are new. It is like a big happy disfunctional family.

I had a girl get stood up one night and came up to sing. She was there all alone and had driven quite a distance to meet this guy that didn't show up. She told me what happened and I made sure a few regulars new. By the end of the night she was part of the group. Now she comes back about once a month by herself. Oh she got rid of the loser guy.  LOL

I go out all the time time by myself.  But then I have been going to the same bar for almost 10 years.  My hisband goes with me sometimes but not real often. We have a really friendly bar, when one of the regulars see someone that is by themselves we will take them under our wing and introduce them around to other regulars.  That way they have a built in friend base the next time they come back

Maybe we are a bit aggressive but we really like to get make new friends....... :hi5:

I go out by myself all the time.  I'll meet up with friends or make new ones.  It's not that big a deal.

Years ago my Dad told me that the nice thing about religion, and places of worship, is that you can find yourself in most places of the world, away from home and quite homesick, yet if you go into a church that's your religion or religious denomination it's like a tie to home.... Well in the 70's when I was alone in europe I went into bars and that got rid of my homesickness, I've met fascinating people in bars.....Never met anyone interesting at a church service....I suppose that might mean Satan is my copilot....None-the-less,  he's been quite the loyal sidekick !

I find karaoke is a great way to meet people if you're on your own, for a start off you know people's names as they're called up to sing, and you have some very easy ice breakers to get a conversation going, talking about music, the song you/they just sang etc.

Plus if you're single and "on the pull", well there's always the opportunity to sing a nice ballad to a lady and see where it goes...

I have to agree.  I've met more people since I started regularly singing karaoke (about 2 1/2 years now) than any other activity I've ever been involved in.  Plus, it's just FUN!

Yeah, the only problem too is that I am 23 and typically...most Karaoke singers are in their mid 30s to 40s it seems like...thats what puts me off a little...

Maybe Ill try tonight

Going out by yourself should not be a problem.

When travelling for work, many times I end up by myself, and have no problems going out and sitting by myself.  Sometimes it's good to get away...

As far as going out to a club with karaoke, if you go more than a couple of times, you would go from being by yourself to being a regular and meeting and talking with other regulars and meeting new friends.  Go and have fun!!!
