Also how is the EON hooked up through the JRX internal x-over - ie high pass or through?
Lonman I have the JRX set on "Thru" so your saying I should have it set on "HPF"?
Most definitatly set it for high pass. That's the reason for the sub to relieve your mains don't have to push them low notes. Right now your mains (the EONS) are pushing the exact same low frequencies as the sub - not good.

How is the rest of your eq set up on the mixer & the EON's coming out of the JRX
The eq on the mackie is set flat with slight adjustments when needed and the eon has the high at 11:00 oclock and lo at 12:00 oclock. The problem Im having is that the singers have been sounding tinny and I've been aproaching this the wrong way to solve it. I use shure 58 beta mics so I think they are ok but I might have to go with an external eq for the mics to help sound.

I would set the eq on the EON's both at 12:00 to start with - these are no longer going to be pushing the deeper bass frequencies. Set the 5 band eq on the DFX flat at "0" & all channel eqs straight up. Now listen to the system with the sub set for high pass. How does the bass sound? Does it need turning up? Raise the input sensitivity on the back of the JRX first, no eq'ing yet. Do this test with a disc you feel is recorded very well, clear, & solid. No sloppy bass beats or older music with no clarity. The 5 band should remain as flat as possible with possible minor cuts at 250hz & 3.5 khz. It's always better to do subtle cuts over adding for eq's.
The Beta 58's are a great mic for experienced vocalists - meaning the singer needs to hold it properly singing right into it. Any "off axis" holding of the mic is going to diminish the sound of the singer greatly meaning you'll need more adjustments at the board. You shouldn't need an external eq for these although a hi & lo that the DFX has isn't really enough of an eq for vocals, however you can make them work. If you need to add more midrange you just need to cut the hi & lo on that channel back a bit.
