what did you download? Winamp? What version and where did you get it? Did you install a .cdg plugin? Pacemaker?
Your .mp3 that you're playing... does it have an accompanying .cdg file of the exact same name, but different extention?

Basically, I just put a karaoke disk into my cdrom drive.
It played the music fine, but no graphics.
5.12 is the version.

you need the .cdg plugin.
Go to www.winamp.com, and search their plugins. It's pretty basic. Search for "karaoke".
Winamp will NOT play the file off the cdrom WITH the graphics off the disc. In order to use winamp, you need to rip the files down to your computer.
There ARE some cdg player software out there. I think karawin will do it. Powerkaraoke also may have a player software that uses your cdrom.
The cdrom needs to be able to read the subcode... now powerkaraoke promises to be able to do it with MOST standard burners, even ones that karaoke programs won't recognize.
I use Audiograbber to rip my files off my disc onto my computer.

WINAMP will PLAY a CDG in your CD-rom despite what matt says... you will need the CDG plugin which is different than the mp3+g plugin... you will also need a CDG compatible cd-rom in your PC... - tig

Peeps been giving you the link for the MP3+G plugin.
Here is a link that will allow winamp to play a ACTUAL CDG DISC if your CD drive is CDG compatiable...
http://www.physysteme.com/in_cdg.html
On a bad note....The CDG disc player plugin does cost $24, but is free to try and see f it wokrs for your CD drive
