If you do a forum search on the product you will have a good idea of how the pro here feel about the brand.

This may be the first time I have ever heard vocopro and good quality in the same sentence. The two do not go well together.

Nope, no good reviews available. It's a waste of money.

That system is by far one of the best paperweights/end tables you can buy, but it sucks as an actual karaoke system.

Skippy

What are you looking for this system to do for you (karaoke I know)

Occasional Home use?
Occasional Pro use?
Mixture of both?

Where do you plan to use this system at home?  Will you need to "put it away" when you done using it --Willl it stay set up like in a dedicated room.

Give some more info and I'm sure for $299 the collective brain power here can come up with a better system than the Vocopro

Here ya go....this is about as mucha as you can get for $300. A decent little home system that is also upgradable.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=l ... id/608003/

Squier is Fender's discount brand, and the Fender units get great reviews as portable PAs, so I would trust this one as well. It also has a reverb effect on it, which is a bonus for your home karoake. It is $230.

http://www.karaoke.com/cgi-bin/WebObjec ... &key=41192

This is a CD+G and DVD player for $80. You can get similar units on Ebay for about $50, but the peeps at karoake.com have really good customer service and the peace of mind may be worth the extra cash.

So that's $310 for everything you need in an entry-level karoake PA system minus the mics and you could always upgrade the components at a later time if you wanted to, whereas the vocopro is pretty much what you see is what you get.

This is pretty much as inexpensive as you can get in an upgradable PA system (there is cheaper but they are crap). If for some reason you have a budget larger than $300, let us know and we can recommend a bigger, better system than this.

As stated before, many on here are professional KJs.  VocoPro gear does not seem to withstand the rigors of pro use.  For home use, their stuff might do the job, but the price to value comparison then comes into the picture.  The bottom line is you can always do better by buying a cd+g player and some sort of basic PA system.  I have yet to see an all in one karoake system that provided good sound, quality, adequate features, and was reasonably priced.  Even the hgiher princed units are not up to par with comparably priced self-assembled systems.

My experience has taught me that most equipment designed exclusively for Karaoke use tends to be more expensive.  You can usually go to your local music superstore and find something with all the feautures and more for less money.  I must say however, that I own two peices of gear from Audio2000s (7050 mixer amp & their rack mount key changer).  Both units have performed flawlessly.  I have boxed up the 7050 mixer/amp and use the key changer with my Numark player.  However, I still believe the Audio2000 unit is a great unit.  Unfortunately, it is not easily rack mountable and I prefer powered speakers.  This unit has enough power to rock any honme karaoke party.  Hook up your player and speakers and your are set to go.  If this is for home use, look at some of the offerings from Audio200s.  I have not used their other gear so I cannot comment on speakers and the like.  But I would recomment the 7050 or 7045 with inexpensive PA speakers (Peavey makes decent inexpensive PA speakers) to make a system that will blow the VocoPro Duet away.  Also I do not recommend anything much below the low end Peavey.  I have heard the powered American Audio speakers and was suprised by how badly they sounded.  However, the VocoPro player and "pro" mixer settings may have had something to do with the sound.

Cheers

I have seen the duet in action and it is a piece of junk. Serves the VFW that replaced my friend right for getting it. I have found that a majority of home karaoke units are very hard to get  the right mix between music and vocals when it comes to audio wise. Some don't like CD-r's and some stop operating within a couple of month uses.
