does it take you to unwind after doing a show? Not the question you thought I was going to ask, huh?
I can never go straight to bed. NEVER. I've tried. It's impossible. Even if I got no sleep the night before I'm still up for hours after I get home.
What about you?

It takes me exactly two Chalupas, one soft taco, and one episode of Futurama to wind down after a show. That equates to about 30 minutes after I get home!!

I too need to eat a little something - usually crackers and cheese. Then about an hour later which gets me to bed between 4am - 5am. I drink coffee and water when I work, so about 2 bathroom stops before bed also. Unless I go to bed with my depends on. LMAO

My fiance is a tremendous help... just talking to another person afterwards is a sponge to dump the show outta ya, but someone that is a patron and cares about you... she can tell me what she thought if I complain about a whiner, or can give me her input on a gal that was trying her wiles on me just to get bumped up.
We're usually laughing all the way home.
And you know, the food issue is definately there too... By the time I get off work, pack up and are heading out, I've been up for 21 or 22 hours! Depending on when I ate before I went in there, I'm usually pretty hungry! !

When I announce last call I start winding down and when I announce last singer I'm pretty well down... After shutdown and sitting on the bar stool I'm usually beat....And I am relying on other means than adrenaline to packup if I do have to that night...

that really depends on the night. usually, i can crash as soon as i hit the pillow and since i live about 4 blocks from the show, that means about 15 minutes after i leave. that's because i generally break everything down myself which is my unwind time. sometimes, though, after a really amped up show i'll hit the ihop or taco cabana then head home.

Boy I wish my fiance was that understanding. He doesn't mind listening to me complain a little if I've had a whiner crowd night, but he can't handle the admirers. I have to be careful what I say or the night will become a very long one. I wish he could just laugh about it with me.

Just got home from work 15 minutes ago. Stayed later than usual. There is no way I'm going to be able to hit the sack at least for a couple of hours.
I used to do the whole snacking thing when I got home but I'm trying to steer myself away from that. I don't know if I'll ever be able to go to bed straight from a show. The only times I've gone straight to bed is when I have a migraine. Don't you love doing shows on those nights? :drunk:

Now, I didn't say that she didn't MIND the admirers... it's just that they frustrate me every bit as much as they frustrate her. The fact that she sees it, and I see it, we talk it out so there IS no jealousy issues.
She still has a problem with this one gal, Heather, that comes in there. She's an incredible flirt, and after hugging me or even TALKING to me, she gives a "neener neener" kinda look at Ruthie... I just KNOW Ruthie's gonna go off on her someday! ! As it is, Ruthie's pretty distant around her anyway.

melly - I have a bad back too. My fiancee' got me one of those Homedics massager chair thingies for x-mas. After work I've been sitting on that. It really has been helping. Better than advil. I wake up the next morning ater a long karaoke night and I'm not sore. Can you believe the name of this massager. You have to be careful how you read "Homedics". LMAO If you say it incorrectly it sounds like it was made for woman.

I'm very fortunate. My wife goes with me. In fact she drives both ways. We are a hour from the club I work at. My full time job is of course a fire chief. I work monday through friday from 7:30 to 4:30 each day. I then kj Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. 8 - 1. Many times the extra hour till 2am. This means by the time we pack up and I get home it's sometimes 2;30 to 3:30. And then I'm back to work at 7:30am. I have learned to take naps going both ways. . Been at this same place now going on 5 years.
I laughed when I read where one of you said something about your spouse sometimes getting a little jealous. My wife is pretty good about the whole thing. Only once have I seen her escort a couple drunk ladies off the stage when I was singing and they started to get a little friendly. .
Funniest thing that happend was a young gal who was trying to get "bumped" up the list. (which I do not allow) She came up and said, "I'll show you my T!^^'s if you move me up." I looked up at and without smiling said, "Do you see that lady sitting over there?" (My wife is well endowed) She said yes. I said, "That's my wife, do you really think I'm going to be impressed? The girl slowly shook her head and walked away.

That is too funny. I laughed out loud and I was by myself. Now, I am single and why doesn't something like that happen to me? I would have bumped her up for sure. Maybe I live in wrong part of the country. Good story.

Kelly our Fire Dept at a small rural town is now fully updated and one of the best in the country.. Wellington Co..
But years ago they went out to farm fire. The farmer stacked his hay against the barn which is a nono.... The haystack was on fire so the fireman in charge says ok we are gonna save the barn ... Put 4 sticks of dynamite between the barn and the stack....They set it off blew the barn away pieces of it over on the farm house.. They were standing there watching the haystack burn and the farmer said get the ** out of here..

LMAO LMAO
Funny things happen on stage. The way I'm set up I'm usually directly behind the singer. I've seen people moon the singer and girls flash the singers. A little embarrassing to say the least, but as long as it stays under control I don't mind. I figure it will bring the guys back for sure. I would have loved to have been spared from seeing the one guys hairy butt though. Yucky

Speaking of bad backs. . . Last friday I pulled a She-Ra. I am sooooo not She-Ra. I went searching all over town for sidewalk salt. Only place that had it was Home Depot. I looked at the 50lb bag, picked it up, hefted onto my shoulder and as I'm walking through the store I'm thinking in my head, "Oh, this is no problem. I AM STRONG! YEAH!" I have a bad back as well, but I was feeling strong. When I got home I hefted it out of the trunk and proudly dispersed it's contents along the porch, sidewalk and driveway. Next morning, Dec. 31, I woke up, couldn't walk at all. Spent New Year's and the whole weekend in bed with the lovely perfume of Ben Gay. Monday I had my regular gig and with the help of ibprofen and muscle relaxers I worked. I was doing fine until last night when I inisisted on moving the tupperware of song binders. When I got home I could barely move.
On the jealousy topic, I tell my hubbie all my stories from work. He usually laughs when I tell him about someone's adventures on trying to pick me up. Especially when it's the 69 year old bar owner! He doesn't ever get jealous. One time I was a bit worried though because he is protective a bit. Nothing to worry about though, but this time I was. He doesn't come to my shows a lot because he has to be up for work at 6am. Seeing as how he's not there a lot some people don't know he's even my husband. One night I was singing a song and one of the regulars, that has no picking up intentions, started dancing behind me a bit closely while I was singing. I looked straight at my husband, while singing and gave him the, "Don't worry about it" look. He knows though. He wasn't worried about it. I glad he is the way he is because I don't know how I would be if our occupations were vice versa.

It takes me FOREVER to wind down, especially if it is a fun show, which is fortunately quite frequent.
Richard typically has to eat something and, I swear, has Waffle House programmed on his phone! Usually tho he drops me at home and goes to Waffle House to eat breakfast... after years of breakfast after a show I feel as if I could live my life without another meal of breakfast foods! After his breakfast he comes home and goes to sleep immediately! If he doesn't go out for breakfast he snacks here..
I usually come home, let the puppies in, stand there for Sophie (#1 puppy) to eat and then hit the shower. After my shower I usually hop in bed, fire up the laptop and check a few forums!
We are taking on some more shows and our store is open 6 days a week so we are going to have to get in some sort of schedule....
Other issued addressed: 1) Migraines - Oh Gosh Yes! I get them too! Fortunately not as frequently as before but having to work in a smoke filled bar with loud music and a migraine is rough!
2) Bad Backs - I'm in this crowd too, resulting from Scoliosis & a car wreck when Richard & I first got together. Thankfully I have Richard & he does most of the heavy lifting.. I have enlisted the assistance of friends if Richard isn't available and my back is acting up. I hate asking for help! I think of myself as strong & healthy as well.... I usually put myself down in the back after yardwork tho... I also have the Homedic thingy, it eventually numbs the pain but as soon as I'm off it...
3) Jealousy - Not an issue; never has been for us whether KJ'ing or not. There have been women who flirt with Richard (for reasons I can understand  ) but I know he's going home with me. I have also been hit on (in the very distant past) but I can handle myself......
Good question! Susie
