Well, my Plextor finally died....I can't boot unless I first open the door and then it won't read anything I place in it.

I tried removing it from device manager and allowing winduhs to find it again and all that, but no joy.

So please suggest your idea of the best CD-RW drive for karaoke.

Thanks!

I bet 50 bucks someone is gonna say it has already been discussed and I shoulda done a search LMAO

PLextor 716A or U, depending if you want internal (716A) or external (716U ) I have one and is compatible with all my karaoke software.

Try checking out LiteOn Keith, not sure if they all burn cdg but they're made by Plextor.  I know several people who use them and are very happy with them.  :)

Not true. LiteOn is made by LiteOn and most certainly not all of them support CDG. Once again (and you could read this in 100's of references in the forum) get a genuine Plextor. They are a bit more expensive, but worth every penny.

FWIW,
The plextor px-740 no longer has cdg hardware support. I was really mad after I had purchased one and they wouldn't take it back. The plextor website says it will read cdg...... so does most all of them.

Plextor PlexWriter Premium works great & is cheap!  Going to pick up a few more just to have on hand.

Lonman, that looks like a good choice.

Thanks for the info. I didn't want to buy one that no longer supported CD+G...and I didn't want another DVD drive, just plain CD-RW.

Looks like my local retailer no longer carries Plextor, so I guess it will be etail and several days wait.

I'm not sure which Plextor I got, I guess I could go upstairs and look....

But the point I was going to make is that when I bought mine, I read the box and made sure that the specs said that it did indeed support CDG reading AND writing.  (I think it was a 716).

Keith,  Not sure if you are familiar with XPbargain's or not.  It's a great site to reference, and in my case it's been a source for when I make purchases.   Check it out for this type item.  I save ALOT of money thanks to this site's bird dogging best buys, combined coupon's available, rebates etc. I'd post the link but I'm not allowed to here. Just look up XPbargains :)

Thanks guys, but the problem solved itself when I dug in a junk box and found an old PlexWriter 8/4/32A I forgot I had....I also found an old HP that does CD+G really well....I forgot I had them stashed away! :D
