Allstar,  I have a few great "tag sale" gems too :)   Like my $75 Gibson Barney Kessel.  (The lady selling thought it was broken because it didn't get loud, of course she didn't have it hooked up to an amp either)... Today I'd never take advantage of someone's ignorance like that..I never would these days.  I was a young punk, and grabbed the thing.

Now that I am older (a lot) and the kids are out of the house, I can afford the toys I always wanted as a young musician. My latest addition is a 2005 Strat. OK, so I have fun with it.

Exactly !   (My kids sit in cases in my closet.)

I have "GAS".  Guitar Acquisition Syndrome too..  Nothing wrong with toys :) Especially nice toys. LOL

I love guitar chat !!
OK, here goes, I'll admit, but don't tell anyone. I am a BIG Shadows fan. Very few people in the states know them, but they started in the mid 50's, and are still going. As old as the mountains, they are, but still there.

ps. Did you ever get to chat up the girls because you were playing a Gibson Flying V? Man, it was uncomfie, but even if you couldn't play, you were still cool!

Of course !  but never the flying V.  I had a few empty Marshall cabs. "Drool factor"

LOL

Hey Allstar,  Not sure if both you and Lonman are familiar with the site "Riff Interactive", yet if not,  it's a fun site.  I'm glad this type of site exists. With instructor's such as Lyle Ronglien, and Wolf Marshall it's not a bad experience IMHO. Yet I must admit,  A few of these guys were almost responsible for my burning my guitars. I took a few refresher lessons when something of interest came around. It's free.  I purchased a few of Lyle's "Jam" tracks.  I have a blast with this stuff !  Since these days,  I don't play much anymore.

ADDED IN:  (Sorry, couldn't help myself, this won't happen again)

Denegrate yourself all you want....I still respect you cause I know where it comes from....And I know how strong you really are inside.

Keith, Sorry about the delay responding to this. I also apologize for my indirect response "skating" the issue.  You got me thinking, I couldn't answer. Although the topic likely wouldn't be welcomed here, an interesting "fishing" topic certainly would be "Can a Strong person inside, also be very weak in many ways" ?   I haven't a clue. I don't know what "Strong" means anymore. You really got me thinking ! Culturally it's easy for males to get caught in the "John Wayne" syndrome thinking that's what strong really is. I've met a few German, and Israeli women that were quite emasculating LOL .  I haven't a clue anymore. "Strong Male"/ "Strong Person" /"Strong enough to be a good person"/"Strong character"/"Emotionally tough person"/"Person who has little fear", I just don't know what strong means.

You will know that you are strong when all around you turn to you and lean on you whenever they feel challenged by everyday life....But you can't lean on them likewise.

It's a relative thing....It depends on who you relate to....And how strong you are compared to them.

And it's a lonely place....to be strong....To be stronger than them.

It sux to be stronger than all your friends, ... especially when you need a friend.

Huh?

I have a LONG LONG LONG way to go Keith LMAO    Not sure I can reach that place within this lifetime in fact !

It's sort've funny, someone in the area who I respected when I was a teenager told me something that at the time sounded good.... regarding what's important

He said;  "Be right"

I figured that at the time that sounded good, and I tried to attain that !

Years later, I told him I was reminiscing, about the sage he shared with me

I said;  "Remember what you told me is important, to "be right" ?

He responds;  "yeah, I was a young arrogant fool back in those days,  It's important
to 'do the right thing', not to be right....

Anyway,  that's sort've where I'm at.... Trying to be a decent person...whatever that means...LOL.  I suppose someone I can live with... Beyond trying to achieve that,  there's a hell of alot of competition out there.
