Tonight I sang jump, jive n wail by the brian setzer orchestra, a lot of folks hit the dance floor for it. I think it might qualify for a crowdpleaser.  Just a thought

Oh, that WOULD be fun!  I've never heard anyone sing that for karaoke.

Hmmmm...I've sung "Black Velvet" once and it went over well...I was wanting to sing it again sometime.  (I have never heard anyone else do it.)

It usually goes over ok but can be over done.  Though I don't think it gets a crowd going that much tho-   I think I got that impression becuase it was one of those things where it got "popular" becuase of American Idol and people were doing it fairly often in a few bars I went to.

Yeah, jump, jive 'n' wail would be crowd pleaser- see my tips above-- upbeat, something that would be somewhat popular and would get people engaged (e.g. dance to it).

I always play good music after a few bad singers to break things up. What ever is hot on the charts.

Right now it's been BEP - My Humps, Chris Brown  - Run it, Chamillionaire  - Turn it up or Lil Wayne - Fireman.

My two cent's is :

I Tend to sing a lot of 70's

Rikki dont Lose that number ,Brother louie , Precious and Few, Baby dont get Hooked on me, Alone again Naturally , Crimson and clover , Draggin the line,

Those are a few That I get a lot of crowd Participation from . be it Dance floor filled or singing along.

I live in a college Town and the Lounge I sing most at is an above 35 Crowd. If I happen to be going to where the tenny Boppers go ( to scope out the college girls) I break out some old Classic Rock.
Comfortably Numb, Another Brick in The wall part ll , Rock and roll (zeppelin) ,
Hero, Addicted (enrique) , The Reason (hoobastank). Hey You (pink Floyd)

I Usually have dics's pre burned with the songs I do for the MrOctober show However I have to have atleast two set's of a whole show burnt incase theres more of a younger crowd than the old croony lovers, Most of my audience comes to here the older songs, Sinatra, Martin And Neil Diamond.

I have learned that its the songs they dont hear all the time that go over much better than the most popular ones. For Example "Alone again naturally" by Gilbert O'Sullivan this song I did for the first time in public at my last show, I always sing it at home but thought it was too "Gay"..lol to sing in public. Its one of those songs people like but would never admit it...It went over so big at my last show I was shocked. compliments and a full dance floor.....it's gonna be an everyother show tune now.

sorry that was more like 5 cents than 2

Just a thought
Michael

Do you know I'm one of the few people on earth who has never watched "American Idol"?  I've been in restaurants where they had it on, but the sound was down, and I wasn't really watching it anyway.

Knight show-  "Tequila" (the song) was a big hit! I can't believe a song with virtually no words is a karaoke song. I asked over the mic for people who have never sung karaoke before to raize their hands. Then I picked a couple girls out and brought them up on stage. I explained all they would have to do is yell tequila. I told the bar it wouldn't work unless everyone played along and that we need to help out these girls that were up there for the first time.

It was great!  Even the bartenders were yelling Tequila.

Thumbs up Knight show  :worship:

I thought of another song that's good  "The rodeo song"
That's a great idea!  Can't wait to put it to use!

Susie :)

"Jump Jive and Wail" is an excellent crowd song!!

It almost always gets people dancing - easy to sing I would suggest anyone
to try this song.

"Hot Hot Hot" another great song. If your crowd is already hyped up they will start a conga line for sure. Fun and easy to sing.

That's "One Bourbon, One Scotch & One Beer"! LOL!

And yes, long songs like this one, "American Pie" and the "Stairway To Heaven" can just murder your show if done improperly. Badly sung songs are horrid, but most realize it's only 3.5 minutes of their life!

I agree with all the one's mentioned, especially with babs on the "Blow Me" song.

Another good dirty song that gets people going-

The Pussycat Song by Connie Vannett.

Other Kosher songs-

Mustang Sally
Hurt So Good
Big Spender (Getting into it and picking a few random guys in the audience to single out while singing is a good thing too.  Sometimes this song gets put into the Dirty portion of a show. ;) )
Tush
Slow Ride

Did the JCB Song last night, probably with more enthusiasm than sense having seen it as a new addition to the karaoke book, and it went down surprisingly well  :biggrinthumb:

In fact if I can find the backing track I might sub it...

The songs off the Disney movies on the Disney Karaoke discs... TALK ABOUT A BLAST!

I sang "Les Poissons" from The Little Mermaid. The song the Chef sings while cuttin' and hackin' up the fish and crabs, all to Sebastion's dismay!

I did it with a cheesy french accent, and man was it FUNNY!

My son sang the song from Aladdin "One Jump Ahead" (in ALL the voices) at home... he'll be 21 in June. Can't wait to bring him down to the club to see that! LOL!

I think I heard "The Pussycat Song" last night--something about describing a "pu$$y" and then saying it's a "friendly little cat"?  Is that the one?  I thought it was rather hokey myself.

I've actually sung "Slow Ride" a few times!  That's about as risque as I'm willing to get!  LOL!  (BTW I'm a straight female, so I sing "baby" instead of "woman".)  I have fun doing that song.  I've only been able to find the shorter version so far.  I wish I could find the long version--even though I do a LOT of dancing on that one, and that really fast part near the end of the long version would be kinda hard to dance to anyway.   I'd be out of breath!  LOL

"Big Spender" would be fun also--I was in a choir in college where we sang it--just the girls, of course--and we really vamped it up.  It went over really big.  I've never sung it for karaoke, though, nor heard anyone else sing it.

"Mustang Sally" seems to be really big among male KJ's.  I've heard a lot of KJ's sing that.  That and "Drift Away" and "Pride and Joy".
