Being a KJ I find it easier to assign special names to people who become regulars, if the patrons don't already name themselves. It is hard to keep all the multiple Bobs, Jims, Sues etc.... from coming up at the same time when I call their names. Do you have some special karaoke names for your patrons?
Ex: Sponge Bob singer pants
The incredible edible Ed (not just for breakfast anymore)
Bring your own Bob
I'd love some new ideas for names

So far I've just used my own name and haven't run into anyone else using the name Laura. But at the bowling alley where I usually go, the guy who helps the DJ is named Billy, and then there are a couple of guys who go by variations of the name Bill.

Nick names are fun and easier for me to remember the person. Most people love them. I noticed they seem to stick too. Even the odd ones like Eddie Spaghetti. people actual call him that and he likes it.

We will use the Phonetic Alphabet. For example if we have two Johns we ask for a last name. Say one is Smith and the other is Jones, then they would be John Sierra and John Juliette.

for my regulars, i keep intro songs. since i play buffer music between singers i play the regular's intro song instead of filler. that way they know who's turn it is to sing. I do have two Dawn's (one is my wife) and a Don that come in from time to time that don't have intro's. since there usually aren't kids in the place when i call for my wife i call her by middle name. when i call for the other Dawn i call for the "innie" and for Don i tell them the one with the "outtie". it works pretty well in this instance and everyone gets a quick 8th grade laugh.

But, those are all 'good' names. Come on, lets hear some of the 'other' nicknames we have for folks.
How about Old Yeller, for the older guy that likes to yell into the mike (and he wonders why I have my hand on the volume knob....)

we call anyone too drunk to sing, but tries anyway "PiP". there was a fella at the old place i used to run a show and his name was pip. his real name! anyway, he sange three songs. hey jude, new york, new york, and mack the knife. the problem was, they ALL sounded exactly alike and sounded like bob dylan was singing them onl y at the top of his lungs! we have a few coice names for tohers, but we won't go into that here. remember i said in another post that we play intro music for people so they know that it's thier turn? we play (@$%!) as the intro for one particular singer.....nuff said?

Some more names--
Hanky panky - 6'5" tall man with white hair and goatee
The Taranator - 5'2" girl
Dingle Berry - 40 yr old business man

I've always used Danny G for myself. Got kidded as being the brother of Kenny G (no relation). But I like the name anyway. If I am in a mostly country bar I am Danny followed by my middle name Lee and then the last name. Basically my name leads towards country while I enjoy singing more on the eighties rock side of things.

Melly - Have him do I feel like a woman or YMCA. Customers that like to entertain and will sing anything are awesome. It helps me let them be the show. I have a male patron that sings I feel like a woman and puts his own words in like I've got cramps does anyone have midol? I put the song in for him as a joke and now people ask him to do it.

Melly ... you're a doll to donate points to me ... but I'm trying to find a way to donate them back, as well as donate 25 back to a10cgirl. I want to square things with you two, and then get the heck out of here and back to SS and sing! I guess I don't play well in the sandbox. Can you tell me how to donate points???? XO Bill

I call most singers "Ugh" as in their singing this song again? Ugh
I'm glad I got plenty of choices each nite so I don't burn out of one bar with their regulars.
