I did shore patrol a few times in naples.. It was bad when we had 2 or 3 subs tied up and a bunch of tar heals on the pier waiting for a liberty launch back to the carrier..

These cops here dont have a clue what crowd or mob control is all about... All they know is gas or shoot...

I'm inclined to think Hickok was the brand I bid on, but got it sniped out from under me...  Aren't those among the better makes of consumer home testers ?  Better than Eico, Sencore, Heath (of course) etc..... Webcor I must've been thinking old tape players.. Weren't they one of the military's original manufacturer of espionage equip ?

Everybody started using this one at the last..... One thing to keep in mind If a tube tester has seen a lot of use the pins in the tube sockets get loose and need to be replaced.. They are sort of a pain because you have to drill the rivets out...

B & K

True,   Yeah,  I looked at the B&K model's too... I lucked out with this Eico in terms of condition... It really saw little use, was calibrated, and pristine shape... Certainly was never roughed up

Really all I wanted, was something I could use for my guitar, bass, and audio gear... Didn't need anything elaborate, The Hickoks of course closed at about 150+..Eico was more affordable, and it's my understanding that although not of Hickok quality, was better than Heath, Lafayette, on par with Sencore, etc.  I have no idea...I felt more comfortable paying under 50, than paying a few hundred bucks for something with superfluous features

That B&K model 500 has 2 1/2 more hours and it's got one bid at $65...  What do you want to bet that it get's sniped for 90+ final moments ?  That's a really nice model,  probably closes for over 100 bucks.  LOL,  I used to use my E-snipe software in the old days... Problem is, everyone else had that same software, or better.   People would put in maximun bid amounts, and do other stuff letting their computer sniping program bid for them...LOL,   It's sort've like two people playing chess, but they each are using Chessmaster 4000.....  They each yack in chatrooms, and let the computers play one-another.

When you test a tube thump it on the side see if it arcs inside...If the conductance is in the red throw it away If its in the green chances are its good

Thanks,  I'd never have known to do that.   Will do.

Did I mention that site you sent me has 7027's for under 50 bucks ?   That's not bad at all considering how scarce those are now..  Might be more practical than doing the conversion on the B-25B head

Your in an area now that I dont have much experience About the most impressive thing I ever done with a guitar amp was pick up a ham in the next block... W-0-Nancy Ida Baker Of course that before they went ssb...

Yep.  you know what I found strange... As a kid, I bought one of those cheap $5 RS crystal radio things.... Anyway, it was supposedly just a standard one or two channel radio....  where you hook a copper wire up to something as an antenna...

This wasn't shortwave, or at least it wasn't intended to be....but I'd get Radio Moscow, and HCJB Quito Ecuador on it....  I know sometimes with sunspots, groundskip even a car AM radio can get some bizarre DX stuff, yet this was weird.. No atmospheric conditions that I knew of would cause that..

anyway, TTYL

What I was going to get at, is that my guitar amps always pick up the strong local radio stations... as does my PA head.... Unfortuneately it's MUZAK....I'll be trying to play something, and Kenny G is playing some easy listening rendition of some sucky song.... pretty disheartening

I don't know how alot of smaller bars afford to open weekdays. Figure with DUI laws, a handful of customers at a few beers each, how do they make a profit ?  A pub on a college campus sure, yet some area's you drive a few miles, get pulled over, two or three beers in one hour you're legally drunk... Noone can afford that headache. How does a bar profit on a monday, tuesday, or wednesday night these days ?

One of the mysteries of life... Why does a cow have 4 teets and one hole in each teet and a horse have 2 teets but 2 holes in each teet... Now trivia what about a nannie (goat)
