Hi all! I'm 42 and like to go karaoke-ing (something I just started doing this year). I LOVE singing! I don't get to go every night, because I'm sort of a single mom--I'm separated from my husband and our almost-8-year-old son lives with me. But if he's with Daddy or Grandma, then I go karaoke-ing if I'm not too tired. LOL! My favorite place to go is Crest Bowl in Florissant, MO (even though I haven't bowled in about 20 years--I just go there to sing!), but I like to try out lots of different places.
BTW, my son loves to sing, too, and I've tried taking him to some all-ages karaoke events, but I couldn't get him to sing--until we were in the car on the way home! Oh well...He does have a cute little voice, though!
See you later!

And we are from St Louis as well! Very welcome to the board, and we might just run into each other one day!

Where exactly do you live? And where do you do karaoke? I usually go to Crest Bowl, but I also go around the Westport area sometimes. I'm more of a semi-regular karaoke person than a regular, though, 'cause I'm a busy mommy! :)

And today I cannot acces my email from work  So, here goes. We are in St Ann and karaoke at a local hole in the wall on Ashby Road just across from Tiermeyer Park, pretty much walking distance. Loud and rowdy, but the beer is cold, and the sound is good!

That's right near where I live! My son and I walk to Tiemeyer! What is the name of your "hole in the wall"? I have probably passed it before. What nights do you do karaoke? Are you a KJ, or just someone like me who loves to sing?

Hi Laura
Going South on Ashby, just across from the new carwash is a little pizza place and a bar on the corner. Same block as the little strip mall just after the park. Makes sense?
Anyhow, my wife and I are KJ's and like going out singing as well. We also have a whole music thing going on at home.

[shadow=white][highlight=white][font=Tahoma] Hi Laura, I'm new here too so thought I'd say Hi! I too, have an 8 year old son who loves to sing...He's got great talent (of course ) as he takes after his Daddy, who, in my humble opinion, is an AWESOME vocalist! Last year, we recorded his version of "All The Small Things" and it's truly terrific! I'd love to post that on the Singer's Showcase; too cute! He wouldn't really sing too much either until we got him his own mic to plug into our karaoke equipment. Now, he ROXDAMIKE! You never know what's gonna impress these little guys. Anyhoo, nice to meet you and hope to hear something from you soon!

My little Jonathan has been singing--or at least humming--since he was a toddler. The first thing I heard him sing was after he had seen "The Wizard of Oz", he was singing, "Yooooo-oh, oh-wee-oh." That was when he was 18 months old. Then when he was about 2, he would hum songs on key and you could tell what it was he was humming! There's a kids' Sunday school song called "Deep and Wide" and he used to sing it like this: "Deeee da daaaa, deeee da daaaa..." It was soooo cute! Now that he's older, of course, he sings the words.

That's so cute! I know that song, Deep and Wide...quite a little talent you have on your hands! Sounds like my oldest daughter (now 15.) She's been singing since babyhood too, and just like your son, in tune and on tempo, .
Just last year, as a freshman, she won her school's talent contest by singing Christine Aguilerra's (sp?) "Beautiful." She's really amazing and singing has been such a healthy and positive activity for her!
Hey, we're in the newbie posts...where's the "Gotta brag about my kid!" section? Meet me there! LOL
It'd be neat to have a kids section on this site...(hint, hint)

Hey, that would be great! My kid is my favorite topic of conversation! Like I said, though, I can't get him to do any singing when we go to an "all-ages karaoke" event. Once, he was ready to sing an hour before they started, then when it was time to sing, he was tired and wouldn't sing. Then when we got in the car to leave, THEN he wanted to sing. *sigh* Kids...Then again, I wasn't exactly chomping at the bit to sing in public at his age (almost 8 ) either!
