so you've managed to download the mp3s and now want help finding the cdg files, and forget purchasing anything, correct? LMAO
As for a cdg authoring program, there are several. Check out the search engine on the left area in the "member area", and try to find something. Google also works well if you do an intelligent search such as "build your own karaoke" or something similar.
Welcome to the site. It's a sponsored site by the karaoke manus and retailers... take that as you will.

Hi knightshow,
thanks for your reply. I've tried several karaoke builder programs which I of course found using google but I was not really satisfied with them so I though I'd just ask at a forum.
I didn't really pay attention to the adds on the side though. I'm sorry if my first question is inapropriate.
Can anybody a really good caraoke program?
Thanks
Alex

Alex -
By reading your original post I take it you have some audio files that you would like to make into karaoke songs that you do not have or cannot find. If this is correct....
I use Karaoke Home Producer from mtu to produce my own karaoke songs when they are not available on the open market. It is very easy to use and is reasonable in price.

Thanks anyway.
What about the program?

I have successfully used "dart' and "karaoke home studio", but both are pretty pricey.

From what I see you posted, I think what you want is some file you download, combine with the MP3 file and make it into a karaoke file. There is no such in exsistence as far as I know.
You can manually create the lyrics to existing MP3 files, using programs like PowerKaraoke, but you still have to sit down and type in or cut/paste in the lyrics and manually time the color change of the lyrics to the music. There is no pre defined lyric file you can download and slap it on to make a karaoke.

Then you need the correct version of the lyric and the backing to make it work. right?

for what he's looking for - yes.
the software that shows this stuff doesn't merely access a lyric site. It's a subcode directly ripped from the cd+g, the same way the audio was stripped off the original media. But you have to have a player that can READ that subcode to accurately take the data off the disc.
Winamp's karaoke window and other karaoke player programs use that subcode... but it's got to match the original media bit by bit, or you'll have player errors.
I've messed around with karaokebuilderstudio and dart, and those are very complex to create the .cdg file you'd need, the timing, etc. DEFINATELY not for the novice to mess around with.

I'd suggest, assuming the songs are available, just buying them - custom discs or whatever. The effort, cost/time/aggrevation, to create a CDG generally isn't worth it. IMO

Best out there is MTU's KHP. Only limitation is the inability to properly do duets-although it can be done in a manner that I would like all manufacturers to do as they are selling more discs for the home user, who are buying the all-in-one players that have the black and white screen. So to defeat that problem, it might be good to do it the way Pioneer and DK did it by indicationg who is singing with a symbol or letter that tells the singer who is singing.
