I always use mic stands! I even have my personal mic on a goose neck mounted to my desk.

For rowdy groups, I tape the mics to the stands so they can't do stupid stuff with my expensive equipment.

Hopefully you have a mixer with low cuts on each mic strip so you can eliminate stage rumble and handling noise from the mics.

And hopefully you have mic mute buttons on each mixer mic strip. Always mute any unused mics to gain extra system headroom and prevent feedback....Unmuted/unused mics will eat up your amps headroom and reproduce watt-eating and destructive subsonic feedback.

Oh, so it's a HIGH SPEED run, is it?
Well, kewl, but maybe wear your helmets........ because I WILL be the one driving if I go.

And wouldn't it be cool if the SS party could be here.....where Charmin wouldn't have to think about gettting on any scary ol' airplane?  But I think all those big city people think us Westerners are all a bunch of hicks who can't host.

Really though, I don't even know how many people from here are in OR/WA area. I know you , Matt, Tig, and Lonman...... who the heck else? And am I the only dang girl out here? Isn't the other Tigger from here too? Maybe there's a "search by location" thingee here? I'll go see. If there is, I'm sure it's right under my nose, and I've just never seen it.

i've never seen a show without mic stands.  i can't see why one wouldn't include this.  it's not like they're expensive!  i use three mic stands at my shows (is that overkill, then?)  and 5 mics.  2 corded and 3 cordless for backups.  mic stands also reduce the likelyhood that a singer (usually one who has embibed a bit more than they should) will drop a mic.
