Hi. I've lurked in here every once in a while for a year or so now, but just now registered. Unfortunately my first post is not a very happy one...lets just say I've now learned not to buy any discs on eBay.
I recently won an auction for a Radio Starz Barenaked Ladies disc. It was a great price, and I was excited until I received the package...the seller sent me a burned copy. Beyond just filing a complaint with eBay, I'd like to contact Radio Starz to let them know what this seller is doing, but when I do a Google search, I can't find the actual manufacturer of Radio Starz, just places that sell the discs.
Can anyone here point me in the right direction? I'd be very grateful!
Thanks,
Artemis

Hope you left a negative feedback - would like to know the seller id to avoid in future! E-Bay is a great place to buy, but you have to watch the sellers feedback ratings & other comments. Also ASK the seller questions about the item - flat out like is this an original or a burn - and make sure to document your correspondence for proof if you need to file any kind of fraud report so you can get your money back if you were lied to.
E-Bay is "trying" to get rid of all the illegal discs & hard drives sellers, but the problem is the sellers do the illegals on 2 day auctions & by the time E-Bay gets wind, the item is either sold or over.

The seller goes by sherinhouston.
I've bought discs on eBay before, which is how I have all my other Radio Starz discs to compare the fake one to. I've never had a problem before. But I'm rethinking about my earlier decision not to buy any discs on eBay...I think from now on I'm sticking with the sellers I had good experiences with already. The one karaoke store in town is pretty expensive...and far from my house!
And I most definitely left negative feedback! Then the seller left me retaliatory negative feedback, claiming I was trying to both get my money back and keep the disc. Uh...no...I simply suggested she mail me a proper disc and pay for the return shipping of the fake disc. I've also gotten some harassing e-mails from the seller now too, trying to intimidate me into giving up. I actually bought the disc a month ago, and just left the feedback recently, and looking at her feedback from the past month, it looks like she's been pulling the harassing e-mails on a lot of people lately. And today another buyer that received a burned copy from her contacted me.

I was cruisin' for S.C. discs on E-bay, as usual, and happened to notice that same seller was selling two S.C. "compilation" classic country discs on an eight day listing (I think) on the very last page, so apparently it's not just Radio Starz burns that get sold. She's tried to sell those same discs in the past, and the tracks don't match up to S.C. disc that I've ever seen. I've read her feedback and went to her site in the past, and that lady has some venom if you try to make a stand with her. Hope you didn't end up on her personal "bad E-bayer's" list for trying to right that wrong, Artemis. Reading her site and her feedback responses does make for an interesting pyschological study, though! Try not to let that one bad seller burn you out, and hopefully E-bay will get her.

Interesting. I've bought from her in the past w/o a problem, but can there IS a pattern it seems especially in the last 6 months.

My Gawd! You guys SHOULD go read her feedback. I'd NEVER buy from someone that is so snotty in her replies. She even replies back to people who give positive feedback in a snitty, smarta$$ way!
What cracked me up was this one:
http://cgi1.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.d ... 4777429587
sherinhouston left this reply:
not timely and no explanation...very snotty woman
Follow-up by sweetbabykelcey: horrible woman...vey dishonest and abusive...BLOCK AND ALERT EBAY/PAYPAL
Reply by sherinhouston: Go view her TERRIBLE feedback - I'm not the first she's blown off on
Then when you go and LOOK at "sweetbabykelcey"'s feedback, sure there's TWO negatives... and they're BOTH from sherinhouston!!
! Definately a lesson in checking the feedback from someone before you buy!

Jesus!....After reading her feedback, who in the world would even consider buying from this beast of a woman?
I expect she will be history on eBay soon.
I bet she is also a KJ.....Heh, heh....How would you like to be a singer at one of her shows and have to put up with her attitude?
Thanks for posting her eBay seller name. I consider it a public service that you did so.

It seems like the bids on Ebay are just as much or more than sites like Pricewatch anymore and for cd's outlets like Doowop are coming out with good discounts on cd's..
I can honestly say I've never had one bad experience on Ebay with over 140 transactions. Knock on wood!!!!!!
After awhile one develops a sixth sense just reading the descriptions....

Which is why I will not do business with anyone who cannot behave in a business way, regardless of how fantastic their product is. There are a few on this board and especially Jolt I would never do business with because of their attitude and the way they conduct themselves.

Business everywhere is a voluntary act between two people....It takes both the seller and the buyer to complete a happy transaction....Sadly, eBay has more trusting buyers than they do trustworthy sellers....and many unhappy transactions because of it.
You are most correct that many items listed on eBay can be had etail/retail as cheap or even cheaper than on eBay....
I have learned to buy most items from etailers/retailers.
On ocassion, I might find an item on eBay that comes from a guy like me-not a eBay dealer.....At one time eBay was a great place for folks to sell/buy stuff in a kinda huge garagesale environ, but it has become mostly a clearing house for junk dealers who really stretch the rules and hide from responsibility via distance....You can't reach over the eBay counter and choke the seller, huh?

the thing to watch is people like this one we're talking about, keith! She has incredibly high shipping and handling... and can legally do so! I know I've passed on SEVERAL sales from folks when you see outrageous S&H.
Now, having said that, I've had times where I've sold stuff, and when you buy the mailer, and do the post office box sending route, it can get to be a bit expensive. Even selling cds... you are looking sometimes at $3.50 for the mailer and the shipping! Forget any HANDLING charges! !
But that's what I look at. Low selling prices, but really high S&H!

Yea Matt we recently cleaned up the old farm (took years) and while I realized we had a small fortune sitting there I couldnt see going thru the pains like shipping a 46 ford fender to Albia Iowa or somewhere. And thats not even thinking about the thrashing machine... That might have been pickup only tho.....

Artemis, I feel sorry for you, you had a bit of bad luck. Deal with it, and hope next time is better. It takes all kinds in life, good and bad, rich and poor. You can expect things like that to happen. Nothing wrong with the eBay concept, but if you want to buy something, go to a reputable dealer.

Alright! I just found my favorite part of sherinhouston's site!-
"F.A.Q.'s: How come you never seem to be wrong in your feedback?"
How could we have ever doubted her?

Hey guys, get a load of this!....I sent her email simply asking if it was true she sold burned CD+G's and this is what she sent back:
"First of all, you understood wrong you moron, but I bet you are the type of guy that would believe anything aren't you? You've been reported to eBay for illegal use of the message system. I do not sell burned CDGs, so all this got was YOU in trouble for your idiotic decision to msg me."
What a beast!....Heh, heh.....maybe her hormones are out of whack?

you think that's bad? I have three emails, and now she's done the same thing... reported ME to Ebay (which I'm disputing) for merely telling her "it's wrong to sell burned cdgs"!
She actually thinks that I'm one of her already spurned customers (the 11 that have given her neg feedback over this past month), and has reported me as such! !

I wish all the negative feedback came before I bought the disc. I read pages and pages of feedback, and the three recent negative feedbacks she had at the time were all about shipping. Now that I know someone in July received a fake too, I wish I had read that far back. But with that many pages, it would have taken forever. I wish you could click on the negative and neutral symbols on the top of the feedback summary to see only those kinds of feedback instead of having to sift through all of it.
I got a reply today from eBay. They can only take a look at the original listing to determine whether they think the item sold was fake! They don't even want the pictures and correspondence between the seller and myself! Crap...I bet sherinhouston knew all about this loophole. eBay recommends I contact the copyright owner if anything is actually to be done.
What can I say...I'm very disappointed in eBay!

Wow! This story just keeps getting more interesting. Unfortunately, Artemis, I doubt any manufacturer/ copyright holder would be any help, cause they seem to be MORE toothless than E-bay when it comes to that kind of enforcement. I would just about send you that Radio Starz disc for free, if I had one, just looking at the crap you're having to go through.
Glad you all made those posts about your e-mails to her, cause I was tempted to ask her if those S.C. "compilation" discs she has for sale are legit. I still might, just for the entertainment value of it !
...and just when we thought this seller could not be any SCARIER:
Go to her "View Seller's Other Items" list, and on the very last page..... she's selling two different sets of Adolf Hitler stamps! !

I heard about ebay from people in this forum but never ever go to the site. I just spend almost an hour there and also checking that mean lady.
Anybody who sell freeware is an @#$+*&%^. Man, she was selling Audacity which we here just give link to who ever ask for a free recording software.
I just love the colorful language she use and then blame the buyer for editing her email and putting in those words.
I still prefer to buy from the shop not that I dont have faith in ebuying.
