When I first learned how to play eight ball there were a few simple rules.. 15 in one side pocket 1 in the other .. Challenger breaks one player makes all the small balls or large balls then makes the 8 ball If you scratch on the 8 ball it is an automatic loss.
Over the next 50 tears as money became more and more involved I watched the rules become more and more complex as hustlers devised more and more ways to seperate fools from their money. I dont know if you have ever played in pool leagues or played in Vegas but the rule books VNEA are about 3 inches thick...They essentially killed a way of life, a hobby, they prostituted a concept and run it into the depths that totally buried the original concept and fun of the game.

I have watched the same process with other leagues such as bowling and dart leagues. I have witnessed adults arguing rules trying to gain the advantage with new rules for the advantage to go to Vegas or other things. When the masses dont agree with and vote for them they try to pass new laws and rules ( Why do you think all the fuss about supreme court nominations are about?) It is not about fairness or allowing the peons to compete it is about the greedy getting more levers over the working class... They use religion, psychiatry, laws, guilt complexes, power, control, and any means to control the masses..There are some that would send a woman into a crowd and have her kill women and children and herself because they dont understand the natural and spiritual laws that govern...

The music industry (and the familes that try to pray and sing together) which at one time was one of the honest and most revered now has become contaminated like everything else with greed, over regulated, pimped, and ruined by those that only have one thing in mind, get rich now....I watched people like Hank Williams that toured and worked the small bars like we do...Now the Dixie Chicks make a cool million a month... One gig and I wouldnt depend ond on social security....Forever,,,, While I agree with most concepts on this forum about buying cd's from the manus (I have 6 to 7 grand invested lost track) I am not going to jump on someone who has downloaded a few tracks for free...I dont like the multi riggers..  I havnt made any profit on this yet dont expect to either just now trying to figure out this medicare crap....

But I will say this ... There are those on this forum that want strict rules and want to tell everybody else how to live There is nobody that can come into my home, bar or cafe or any place else and tell me what I can sing or charge anybody for it ..; My children will sing for free, anything they want, forever and they will pray in the same fashion....And they will not have to be in a closet or regulated by anybody...For they shall be free and that is what freedom is about....And I love everybody that knows what soul music is for it knows no color...  or laws or boundaries...Now they have ruined another industry in it's infancy and we have let them...It is called karaoke a funny name, should we let those eruin it with their greed? I do have good news for everybody people have been singing and playing in bars for 3000 years it will never die...

I assume eveybody loves this concept as much as I do....We need to protect from the pimps, the ones with other motives, the ones who want to get rich....Do you think anybody has the right to tell you what you can sing or charge you for it? If you do then you do not have the basic concept of life or the constitution that this contry was founded upon...

I carefully read the parent poster, and agree with him.  Summarizing everything he's said.

I've seen corporations/labels screwin us over, we and our children have a right to sing, and we shouldn't let some corporation tell us we can't.

Very funny story....

I was arguing with one of the licensing agencies about my stream.  I asked them, if I put up a video of my daughter singing britney spears on a web page, suddenly I owe them royaltees?  Even if it was free for grandma?

They said yes, I would owe licensing.  Jerks.

Which is smarter? Just sticking to making/selling karaoke, while people all over the world create software FOR FREE that helps you sell it, or trying to compete with them and keeping it a closed loop while you blow your money into an industry (software) that you(the karaoke manu) knows nothing about?

Some points to remember:
We who make karaoke ARE working class.
The Dixie Chicks may make 1,000,000.00 a month for their record companies.
The Dixie Chicks also WORK for  their money.
We have to pay the dixie chicks to make their karaoke.
Karaoke companies have to pay royalties to the original artists.
If people continue to download or make illegal copies of karaoke, their won't be any karaoke left to buy because karaoke companies cannot justify the cost. This means they won't be able to pay their employees. No employees and there are no people to make the karaoke tracks. no tracks=no karaoke.

The music business has NEVER been completely honest. People who recorded from the 1800s to about the seventies had to record each album one at a time and got paid very little to do so. They got NO ROYALTIES.

For example, if you created the clapper and sold it for $10.95 and someone else created a cheaper version that only worked half of the time and sold it for $6.95, wouldn't you be a little ticked?

Let's take karaoke out of the equation all together. Get one of those programs that takes the vocals out of any song, and you can record them and sell them.  The record companies would be all over your butt making sure you pay for a mechanical license. Do you see where the money trail leads?

My point is this; if you plan on making money from someone elses work, or if you plan on using someone elses work to embellish your voice and your wallet, that's fine, just don't be surprised if the people who made the original product, want a piece of that pie.

Just because I decided to work in an industry that sells intellectual property doesn't mean I don't deserve to feed and clothe my family; does it?

Making this stuff is not as easy as you think, there is work involved and a lot of time, sweat and blood  put into each track just so you, the consumer can sing and feel a little bit what it is like to be a star. The great thing is that you don't have to permanently change your life for it. You can go back to your job tomorrow, or back to your same life and the stage with the karaoke is there for you whenever you feel like being in that limelight again. This will end for us all if we can't pay our employees and the royalties.

What if tomorrow though, you find out you can't go back. Your job is gone, the business shut it's doors because people decided to make illegal copies instead of buying your product. They just download your work for free off the net instead of paying for it. There is no money to pay you with. What do you do now all you know is music, all you know is your job. Sure you can get a job in a factory working, making products that you don't care about, you'll probably get laid off two or three times a year, but your family can live on dog food for a few months right?

Yeah, those creditors don't mind if you don't pay them for a few months, yeah they'll let your debt slide for a while at 33% interest.

And that car out front, yeah they won't repo it. They know and care that you got laid off.
