I am setting up my first laptop karaoke setup. I am using sax n dottys for my program because I was told I didn't need a dual video card to have lyrics on a tv and a work station on the laptop. I haven't been able to even display the desktop on the tv. I am using a s-video adapter to rca jack from radio shack I am using a compaq 2100 presario. It's two years old and has a 1.8 ghz processor. I use a 200gig external drive. My operating system is windows xp. I was able to get the desktop to display on my tv (and i mean only the desktop, no desktop icons showed up nor would any windows just the picture of my desktop). I have hooked up another laptop on my connections and was able to get the full desktop (including the icons and any open windows) so I am confindent my connections aren't the problem

The display without icons is the second display... under settings click identify  you should get a big white 1 on your laptop display and a 2 on the other display....Then it just a matter of dragging and dropping the second graphics screen to the right and onto the second display... Usually the second display is set at 600x800... After dragging over you might have to size it by grabbing the lower right corner and dragging to full screen...

When I hit identify it does as you say it should. Now screen 1 is on the left and screen 2 icon is on the right in the window. So i have to drag the icon on top of each other or swap them? Then the next question would be how doI end up with just the graphics screen on 2 and windows screens on 1 (laptop)

for me, when I start my karaoke program (mine's winamp), I have to manually click on it, and move it over... then adjust it while it's there!

Display 1 is the desktop with icons, start bar and all progam windows when launched will be on the desktop as usual. Display 2 is just an extension of the desktop. It will have only whatever background you have on the desktop... Under settings the resolution and color props can be set on it...Any active window can dragged and dropped to the secondary display, ie display 2...

If you have S&D installed,  all the required components installed, and the Mp3+g plugin installed you should get at least 1 graphics screen on the desktop after importing data base from your external drive and playing a karaoke track.......

Then right click on it,  click always on top and drag it to display 2 and size it.....

Two graphics screens....After installing the Mp3+g plugin,  in windows explorer go to Progam Files/Winamp/plugins.....Right click on gen_cdg.dll,  click copy and paste into winamp folder rename it gen_cdg1.dll and drag it into the plugins folder This provides 2 graphics screens....Unzip one of the karaoke tracks and launch it in Winamp...Drag both screens where wanted and size them... Exit out of Winamp then go into winamp/plugins,  right click on gen_cdg.ini and gen_cdg1.ini go to properties and check read only.....This locks them where you put them.....

I would recommend going Here and downloading the latest vga and audio drivers for that notebook...
