Hey everyone...

I have just join in your fun...  But I dont know where to start...  I am a South African, living and loving London, in Canada Water.  I want to sing very badly, and I know I have a good voice.  I really would like to know where the nearest, coolest karaoke club is...

I am 19 years old and I right my own song, but I do not feel comfortable enough to sing in front of other people.  I sang in the church back in SA and in the school a very very little.  Can you help me??  Where do I go, what do I do?  I've always wanted to be a singer, but I guess I never really want it that bad...  or I dont have that sureness (if there is a word like that)...  my english is not that good  ...  well, what I was saying is that I never had the sureness if I could do it...  I still dont have it, but I am now prepared to start somewhere...  it is worth giving a try...  init!!!

I really hope you can help me on this...

Enjoy the rest of your day...

This page will help you

http://www.geocities.com/Nashville/5640/clubs.htm

it is a listing of all places that have karaoke in the London Area.

London used to have a really good Alternative Rock stattion that I used to get when I worked in Erie, PA. I have never been in London myself, I guess it will be trial and error, but at least there are a number of places to choose from.

I am 39 and never tried to sing in public until a few years ago, the more times you do, the more self-confidence (sureness) you will have. I was very nervous the first few times that I sang, but its easier each time out. Now looking back, I wish I would have started singing when I was 19. Life maybe would have been very different, who knows? Having said all that, my advice would be............................GO FOR IT!!!!!!!   Have fun, and if you don't think you do too well the first few times, keep at it, if you know the voice is there, it will come out.. Good luck and hope things work out for ya           Timbo

Bring along a few friends who have done it. Sing a duet for your first song, that way you will not be alone on the stage. Dont take it too hard if you do not sound too good at the first try.
Then do a song by yourself. Practice before hand and make sure if possible the backing track you practice with is the same as the one you use to sing.

Good luck and happy singing.

ps any singing advice from Badsinger is bad advice LMAO which is normaly a good bad advice LMAO

Guys...  you are stunning!!  I really think I will go for it.  I took a look at all the venues of places, and there is a few I can visit...  now there is another question...  How do I know what song's backtracks do the club have?  Or can I take my own backtrack with me?

You really help me a lot!!
Thanx, enjoy the day...  I shoould be going to work now!! :asleep:

Take your CD along and as the KJ to play it if they do not have the version that you are used to.

I agree singing a duet with someone is a real good way to be an ice breaker for your first time. I was so funny when I first did it. I chose a song for my boyfriend at the time NY, NY because he was a huge NY Yankee fan and happened to be talking to this nice lady and said lets go out and sing together. I did and it was soooooooo much fun. Glad we did it. Never did it again after that. lol

So I plan to soon and then join a band or form my own...gotta be seen and heard..ya know. xxxxxxx
