[glow=darkorchid]Ok I have a sub that I want to make but the song is 3.14 megs and I can't cut any of it without the words going with it, and I'm not sure if there is any way to compress it further or if I just have to give up the ghost and cut the words..... PLEASE HELP :)[/glow]

Use a lower bit rate of MP3 compression 96kbps should do the trick, you will lose a little quality unfortunatly.

I'm not sure which program you are using, but I use Audacity and then DBPoweramp to convert my files to MP3...on there there is an option to lower the bitrate, which like the last person said, will lower the quality, but not substantially and you will be able to get your sub in no problem.  Also, is the track a mono or a stereo??  If it is a stereo and you change it to a mono that may take care of your problem.  I don't know all that much so hopefully this helps you...OR, hopefully someone who DOES know a lot will respond also!!

Good luck...

Allison

What I would suggest is for you to download DBPoweramp and use it to convert your file...even if it is already an MP3 you can change the bitrate to make it smaller, it is super easy, and it's free at least for liek the first 14 days or soemthing.  The site for DBPoweramp is www.dbpoweramp.com.  Let me know if this helps.

Buttrfly::

When saving your mixdown on CEP........ right by where it says the format it's saving to ("MP3 Pro")........ there is an "options" tab.

Click that, and you can set it to a lower bitrate. Start by going to the next lowest one, and it should easily fit then.  That's not much you're having to cut off. Another option I use sometimes, if it's a small amount like that it seems to work:

At the end of the song, if it's just a "music only" ending, highlight a small section right at the end....... then under "effects"......"volume", choose "fade out". Fading a bit of it makes the file a bit smaller, and it can stop you from having to compress.

(hope that all made sense to ya)

you can also use a freeware program called GOLDWAVE.... it can save the file as different extentions, bitrates, etc.

I use Audacity---and have just today learned to slice out long intros and outros and also add in fades. playing with the RATE settings make it sound too slow or like chipmunks. Changing sample rate seems to have no effect. So the key to reducing file size seems to be CUTTING OUT long intros and outros making the song effectivley SHORTER and thereby reducing the overall file size.
