:drunk:  Hi everyone! Well, I'm new to KS and the "American" Karaoke scene. I started out my karaoke life (drunk) in a Japanese karaoke bar 15 years ago and that's where I still toot my horn today. I have been to a few different American karaoke bars over the years and found the singers far superior to myself, not that it kept me from singing. Any how, just what to say hi to everyone. This looks like a really great place to meet some good folks. :drunk:

Welcome to KS, Dino! It's always good to have new members!  Look forward to hearing your tunes...connection permitting!  (I travel a lot and lately I've been saddled with POD-pokey ol' dialup-so I can't listen as I'd like. :banghead: )

Have fun! :dancin:  :hi5: :beermates:

Did you ever see the places with a little machine with a mic attached (kind of like a jukebox)?  I was there in 1981 and I remember most of the songs were Japanese. The only English song I recall was "Country Roads."

I read somewhere that in Japan they have (or used to have) these little phone booth type of things that people could stop at and sing a song on their way to whereever.  That is crazy!!  Is this fact or fiction??

They may have had those in the larger cities, but I personally never saw one.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! :oh yeah:

I don't ever recall seeing "little phone booth type of things" although my karaoke experience is limited as far Japan goes I mainly sang in clubs and boxes. I have several friends here in SoCal that own Japanese Karaoke bars and those are my primary haunts.
