Get a JVC single or triple or RSQ single or triple tray unit.

yep. Triple tray as well as the single trays are accepted leaders. Karaoke.com has the triple tray on sale now for $250!

There's also a lot of folks that love the pioneer twin tray units.

Why miss out on gigs because your main player isn't available?  There are enough players being sold as home units that will handle the odd show.  Some brand names, at least here in Canada are Electrohome, Citizen, and Magnavox.  Are they the best around, probably not but will do in a pinch and most sell for around or under $50.00.

You can pick up a cd+g player at walmart for $35 to get though your gigs.

Or most Daewood DVD players will play cd+g will no issues for $50

Everyone I know that has bought the NuMark dual cd+g Player has had issues with it and no longer uses it.

John, don't get too disgruntled concerning the Numark CDN25+G. :) Regardless of what SOME individuals say, who've never owned it, and state that "all" the "people" they know that had it don't use it anymore aren't stating hands on experience. I have one, and before I bought it, 2 KJ friends of mine bought it when it first came out. Based on their sharing their opinions and letting me "work the rig" gave me the opportunity to "try before I buy"! I'm VERY happy with this units performance :D . Every manufacturer has minor problems with their products. Fortunately for you, it's still under warranty. No harm, no foul. But I do agree that you should have a back-up...just in case. Don't give up the ship....Numark will stand behind their products :beermates: !!

I have also been using the Numark 25G unit for over 8 months and couldn't be happier with it. It gets 12 hours of continuous work a week and has never been a problem. Besides being a flush rack-mount unit, I think that its seek times and scan quality are much better than the RSQ/JVC triple tray (which I previously used). I'd buy it again with confidence because, like Donny B said, Numark is a very good company that is #1 in DJ gear for a reason, which is more than you can say for 95% of these fly-by-night companies that seem to put out karaoke gear!!

See John??!! TopherM has had his for 8 months! Like I said, you only want to get advice from those with hands-on experience on the unit in question. NOT from some  "he said/she said, never had the unit myself...but" individual/s who FREQUENTLY (now who could that be???!!! :ppfftt: ) do just that. Numark will take care of the "problem" and I believe you'll be more than pleased with the final outcome. :2cents: Keep us posted on your progress. Inquiring minds need to know.

I just LOVE IT...when people get up and....TESTIFY! JAMKARAOKE, it's nice to know that there are people who like to spread good news to their fellow KJ'S. That's the kind of stuff John needs to hear at this juncture, and the BEST thing about it is........it's all TRUE :hi5: !!! I'm sure that John (me too) appreciates the POSITVE decision he made when purchasing that unit. It's all up hill from here. (negativity really s*&%s)

what we've been talking about is NOT negativity!! It's called TESTIMONY as well.

Many of us are people from other forums, who have spoken with the dissatisfied owners.

But more than that, it's the specs that I don't PERSONALLY like about the unit. If you want to beat mix karaoke, hey, it's probably fine. That's not the boat I wanna float, though.

What you've also seen is a bboard that is cautious about being TOO negative about some products... VocoPro, CAVs, and YES, the NuMark CDN25+G... because some of the ADVERTISERS here either don't want the negative comments, or there is pressure from the management here to not "offend" them.

Speaking quite personally, I would rather have an HONEST bboard where you can give personal testimony to the junk you bought... in many ways it works out good. One thing that Numark and Vocopro have is excellent customer service.

Now I buy products that don't NEED the customer service! LOL!

Thanks for the response -  I try to give the most honest advice I can.  The Numark unit has its drawbacks - KEY CHANGER - won't play VCDS - That darn a/b video switch you'll need etc.  but THESE ARE PERSONAL preferances.  As far as quality goes - I've heard very little about quality issues - Heck all units and MFG have some degree of defects and returns.  But you do have some on all boards that feel the need to bash anything thats not in  there own rack and isn't the most expensive piece of equipment you can buy.  There is a big differance between doing a Karaoke Show at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN in NYC for 30,000 people and hosting a show at the Madison in BumFut New Jersey for 15 people.  Sometimes you need a $10,000 sound system and sometimes you just don't.

:handshake:

JAMKARAOKE.....you hit the nail on the proverbial head (ouch)!! As far as the key changer, I still use a "old & antiquated " Gemini KM 707. No problems at all :D ! AND, you're right about the A/B switch being somewhat of a pain, but I use that to switch between the Numark cdg player and my Pioneer CLD-V121G which I use for my "old & antiquated" laser discs. (plus it plays cdgs too) Being an "old school" kind of guy, I guess I'm what you call......frugal......not cheap....but after being in the business for over twenty years now...(full retirement right around the corner) I'm very cautious about the "new" stuff which tends NOT to hold up to the "old" stuff.
That is based solely on my personal opinion. Like I've said in previous postings, hat's off to those who feel the need to upgrade when "new" equipment becomes available, even though they really don't have too. Your opinions and thoughts in this regard were/are truly appreciated AND respected :worship: .

Sorry to chime in late, but I recently swtiched from the JVC triple to the Numark and I have to say that I really like the Numark.  Yes, it does require an external key changer, and you have to switch inputs on your rf modulator when switching sides, etc.  However, it clearly is a more professional unit and the unit has performed flawlessly.

Cheers

I've had my Numark about 6 months and I fersure have an opinion about it.

First of all, you can't beat the sound quality when compared to my Pioneer V-10G...and the graphics are really good too.

BUT, like several others here have already noted, it lacks a built-in key changer and A/V auto switch yet it includes the useless beatmatching feature.....So OK, I figured it's because Numark developed it to satisfy the DJ who wants the ability to do ocassional KJ stuff.

I figure that Numark screwed up cause they failed to make it a totally karaoke style system....It's got fantastic sound and is built like a truck, but it requires that a pro KJ use an external key changer and A/V switch.

I want to see it offered as a total karaoke machine!, not a DJ spinner that happens to be able to play CG+G's.
