Mitsui Gold.  These are special order discs but the best for longevity & final product.

I have found that TDK Black CD-r work very well and hold up much longer than any other cd-r.

The black discs i've tried (TDK, Memorex) worked GREAT at first but haven't had the longevity as the gold discs - meaning i've needed to re-do within a year.  The only ones that have worked faithfully through the years (14) are the Mitsui gold.

Cool, I don't burn other than to tranfer data when I an too lazy to hook up a usb drive. I will have to check out a spindle of the disc you reccomend and use them for inportant data.

Originally it was said that a CD-A are manufactured to last 100 years but I end up scratching my cd's they will never last that long. I go my 1st cd player in 1985 so 20 years now wow that is hard to believe, I have only a few of my original cd's.

The original cd-r was given a life of 10 years. None of my 1st cd-r's are still operational. The 2x cd burner still works though!

I checked out those "gold" discs.... They must really be made of gold......
They're like $.95 each ....  But according to the specs have some sort of patented layer of protective coating which is why they HOLD up longer .....

Like I said I have backups from 1996 that are working just as good today as the day they were burnt.

Sounds like you got the "archival" grade - those are generally a little more.  I've seen the regular "gold" discs as low as .65 per disc in bulk before.
