I did answer the question.  I said to go to mtu.com.  They have all he needs to use a pc as a karaoke machine.  But the software is not free.

The following is free.

Knightshow,  I finally got winamp to work.  I used audiograbber to rip, using your instructions and winamp to play the files.

Audio grabber was a little different  but I still managed to use your instructions. I did find a free winamp plugin for cdg but it was not at the link that was provided by another poster.   I found it here.

http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/cdgplugin/

Thanks for your help.

I use two cdg plugins now...

the one in my "whole file", and the other directly from www.winamp.com in their plugins.

Audiograbber DOES take a bit to get used to... but I use it now so fast it's actually faster than cdrwin as far as the setup. I also like that it rips slower... less garbling that way! I'll be changing that "whole file" to include that second .cdg plugin on Sunday!

All Star All Star All Star whether you like it or not the law is there to be followed.  I could tell you how to get away with various crimes, but I won't.  Why because of the legalities involved.  Like it or not it's there.   A church may be exempt but they should check.  A school is exempt only if it involves an educational facet.  For a school dance they are not exempt  from fees anymore than a bar is.  If they are studying the DJ/KJ business then they will be exempt.

The following link provides the conclusion of a finding for copying CDG's to a hard drive.  That site also provides another link to a more detailed explanation of the law and  how the conclusion was reached and who did the study.

MTU Funded Legal Research on Disc Backups

http://www.mtu.com/support/copyright-notes.htm

Maybe this will put the whole issue to rest.

not really.

did you READ the MTU's link at IPJustice? They take a few common sense liberties with the law the way I personally do... that is if you own it, you can convert it. but the Fair Use Act that protects home users, does NOT protect commercial entities from doing the same thing! It sucks, but it's the truth. Now my stance is I'd challenge that stance IF questioned by any copyright holders!
