eben @ Tue Oct 18, 2005 10:58 am wrote: Hmm, interesting comments. I guess only men use singing to attract the opposite sex? Where are the women's perspective on this? Not one posting from the fairer sex.
I don't know if I qualify as "the fairer sex"...... do I?........ maybe I do, since I'm a gal & all that good stuff.
Never tried that, never would. It would be nice to HAVE a voice that could attract someone just by singing..... it's a nice thought. But music to me has never been anything of the sort. But then I'm married, and never sang in public while I was single...... so maybe my opinion is not the best to get. Maybe some "single" gals should come in here and answer your question.
But could a guy ever win me over with a song? It sure wouldn't hurt nothing- but there would have to be "something" else there.......... if there IS something else there, and then he starts trying to woo ya with a song- yup, that could make a difference. Music hits me too hard for that to not work for me. Especailly if it was the right kinda song.
Gosh, I sound boring huh?

I posted an article a while back. It was a psychological test concerning all this. It turns out that music tends to make women a little more uncomfortable than what they would be without it. That makes sense to me since women always seem so hyper regardless of the environment.
Based on this, instead of singing for a woman, I offer to draw her a nice hot bath and rub her down all over with hot oil. Then bring her a drink laced with valiums.
Oh, and if I was married and had kids, then of course I would have to take care of the kids all evening.
What a pain.

I fell for the last guy that I dated at a karaoke bar the first time I heard him sing. He was singing "Comfortably Numb", by Pink Floyd. Was the sexiest thing I'd ever heard a guy sing, and God he could sing it.... :)

LMFAO @ Timberlea..... the guy doesn't make a peep for freakin EVER (at least not that I've seen) and he pops in to say two hillarious words! You crack me up!!!
Allstar... I've missed this side of you!! WEEEE!!!!
ok ok.... back to topic...
back in the day.... before I was married.... I was at a club. It was really dead and me and a friend were just hangin' out being bored when a guy came up to me and said "hey... do you wanna dance? I have a girlfriend, but you look bored" so I said yeah sure... he wasn't so appealing, but hey... he said he wasn't tryin to pick me up and I WAS bored outta my mind so I we danced. Afterwards he introduced me to his two friends.... one who's name was Mark... Those guys and us girls went out to Denny's after clubbin and I found out that Mark is into karaoke, so we planned to all meet at a karaoke bar the next night. I'd never sang at karaoke before, but I'd been DYING to try it, so I was excited to find someone who was already into it.... anyways.... long story short.... Mark got up to sing "Chill of an early Fall" by George Strait and I nearly passed out cuz he was SO good! And his voice was SOOO Country! We ended up dating for a few months after that. All because he sang country and he sang it well!
*sigh*..... i wonder what he's up to now......

Okay children. This is not the school playground. I want all of you to start behaving like responsible adults. Foxey says we should be nice.
And Allstar I like you better as the grouch. Happy carefree people give me the heebie-jeebies :)
Crystal I wish I could here you sing. I can't download from the site because of G.E. security.
That was a nice one Timberlea. I owe you one :)
This is actually a fine forum compared to most of the newsgroups and forums I've been in. I appreciate everyones' attempts to make it interesting.
It would be better if I could invite one of the ladies here to go out the parking lot so we could make out in my car. Oh well, the Internet isn't all it's cracked up to be :)

I used to email this woman who always used Grrrr when she felt particularly in need of, well you know :)
So I may not be getting the right message with "Grrrr." But that is okay because I seldom understand what anyone means anyway.
These days I try not to actually be bad. That lifestyle didn't work for me. I do poke fun at it a lot. But it wasn't funny when I was living it :)
If you want to be bad, Foxey, please let me know, okay?

Holy threadjacking. Well, this topic has gotten out of hand very quick. Anyways, I was singing the other day, mind you I am no looker by any means, but she came up to me to compliment that I sang with confidence and started to flirt with me. I guess that old addage that you can find dates if you can sing, no matter what you look like is true. As long as you have confidence when you are singing, people find you attractive.
Then again, there is this one woman who is just an average singer but has amazing, umm lungs, yeah, that's it. :D She always gets attention, so go figure.

Dave your key word was FLASHING.
The thing that comes to mind when most men see a female belting out a FANTASTIC KARAOKE RENDITION of a song is ...... What does she look like naked?
