I have a singer that comes to our show that wants to find some good CD+G Heavy Metal Music.... preferably some of the newest stuff (groups).

I don't listen to it .. so I don't even know how to really advice him (or search for it).  Anyone able to offer me any help ... or suggestions for him?

Thanks in advance.  CCindy
 :)

sound choice has some good "packs"... and one is a heavy metal pack. Headbangers they call them. These are chosen ones from the assorted spotlight series!

other than that, I'd recommend getting the "head bangers" NORMAL series, either in star series or the spotlights.

PHM rock takes care of most of the new heavy stuff.
Disturbed, Godsmack, System of a Down.
Anything heavier than radio metal is not really available it is very hit and miss.
SC has a few Pantera songs, a Metallica cd, a Slayer song, 1 rammstien song, a few others, best to find out what he means by Heavy get some band names and check for the disc.

Great... Much appreciate ALL the suggestions.  LOL .. yeah ... Im not a person that listens to heavy metal much either ... but he's a fantastic singer, in what I guess is a really good heavy metal band in our area.  Right now ..he does mostly Queen, Bon Jovi  & Stone Sour (????)  .. but really wants to have a bigger repetoire of what he feels he does best.  He's a big crowd pleaser .. so thought I'd try to help him.  Gonna refer him to loudkaraoke and Sound Choice.

Again .. thanks for the help!!

Nor am I Cindy, but according to that categorization of music at one point I did, we likely both did  LOL

The term "heavy metal" has been around awhile.  Depending on his age, "heavy metal" of the late 70's naturally encompassed different material than "heavy metal" 2005. Similarly, depending on his age, I'd be surprised (depending on whether or not he's actually at all familiar with what 2005 "heavy metal" sounds like) if he wants to get into todays "heavy metal" at all.

I've had people call me that wanted someone to accompany them on "blues" material... In one case I was thinking SRV style guitar blues,  turns out the guy wanted Robert Johnson (Delta style)   I don't make assumptions anymore when it comes to certain "terms".  Even "Grand Funk" was categorized as "Heavy Metal" at one point in time. Today while many won't agree that that style actually is "heavy metal", and some might even argue that "It never fit into such a category", It WAS categorized as such when I was a teenager. Heavy metal initially derived from an aggressive form of rock, and throughout the years branched further and further away from traditional loud, and distorted guitar style ...Todays "heavy metal" listeners likely won't agree that what I listened to 25 years ago in this category; was anything more than "Rock". Similarly, regardless of how much of a "crowd pleaser" I am, I'd never attempt todays "heavy metal", it's MUCH different !!   My nephew who's a teenager is a heavy metal guitarist,  and at one point (as a teenager) so was I.... We jammed a few years ago.. Apples to Oranges.   LOL

Definitely check out the Headbanger's Hits on SC Cindy.  Unfortunately the PHM Rock series is no longer being made--they're doing a series called Adult Contemporary (PHAC) now in place of the Rock (PHR) but they have some great material in that series.  Also check out Top Hits Monthly Rock series (THR)--they've got a great library of newer rock selections as well.  Hope that helps a bit more!!

Too bad Pop Hits Monthly discontinued their Rock category and went to Adult Contemporary instead.  They had a lot off the charts hard rock bands.  A Static-X and Rob Zombie , Sevendust songs that neither SC or THM would've done.

What about Karaokefreedom?  He can pick and choose his own songs.
