I'm finding it very hard to research headsets. The following is a list of headsets that I'm considering getting.  I don't plan to sing into them, just speak. So mainly distance capabilities and low interference are my main concern.

Shure THS The Headsetâ„¢ Single-Antenna System

AKG WMS 40 UHF 444 Headset System

Audio-Technica ATW-601/H Freeway Headworn Microphone UHF Wireless System

Shure THD The Headsetâ„¢ Diversity System

Also, does anyone know where I can get info. on how to choose which channel (such as Channel CA, Channel CF, etc.) band, frequency...

Thanks!

How about the UHF URR-10 that's available?  You can get them cheap with a lavalier microphone and the 'pack' allows you to plug in headset, the lavalier mic, or even a hi-Z instrument into the unit if you move a switch.  It's a diversity UHF unit with great range.  I barely had to touch the squelch on the unit in a room that is heavily laden with RF intereference.  I had to turn the squelch on my Audio Technica VHF unit nearly all the way up!

Since Shure used to manufacture the mics for radio shack I've been wondering if the headset they sell for $50 is a shure unit or not.  Would work great with my URR-10....

I haven't used any of the units you asked about specifically, largely because the URR-10 is so cheap! (I got mine for under $150).

Thanks for the reply karaokemeister.

Who makes the "UHF URR-10" ? And are you refering to just the headset, or the receiver and all included? Did you buy it at radio shack?

Also, do you do much walking around with it? If so, what kind of range to you get? (distance)

I was able to find an answer to the frequency question: On the Shure brand website, you can type in your zip code and get a list of band and recommended channels so you can figure out which wireless headset package to get....

I'm going with Nady UHF-16 Headset Wireless System. It's cheaper than the others I listed, and I needed one real soon. At the price I'm paying, I won't feel like I've lost much money, and it will give me time to look for a better one if I need to.  I'll let ya'll know how well it works....

BTW, Nady makes the URR-10.  I purchased one with a lavalier mic but you can put a headset on the pack the lavalier mic plugs into.  I was able to walk into the next room a hundred feet away and not in line of sight in a noisy RF envrionment.  I could have probably walked to the parking lot and still worked just fine but I didn't have any way to monitor if it was breaking up at the time.
