So are you saying that when someone makes the comment that the song was really good and they give you a rating of 8, for example, you want an explanation why they didn't give you a 10?    I'm not sure what has happened in the past with your ratings, so maybe it's something I don't understand.  :)  

I read everything from top to bottom and still feel that some singer's main goal is to get all 10's  and that's their only purpose putting up songs.

I notice that some people don't have the ratings, in fact quite a few of them.  I'm now beginning to understand why.

wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll...i know what bornsaint is referring to.. you have ten comments...all then say..oh gosh that was excellent! or that was perfect..or that couldnt be any better...then the rank is not a ten...a couple years ago a 9 would have broke my heart..i got a little tiny bit tougher

ive complained about this ..till i realised..that its an issue that will never be agreed upon..i do like honest critiques.....and they have helped me grow so much musically in the last four years..but not everyone feels compelled to critique..they simply want to enjoy....some..dont think anyone ..should get a ten..no matter how good they are cuz people just arent "perfect" ..thats cool too ..

Phill...listened to us fight about this over and over poor Phill..and then he incorporated the choice to rate..be rated..or just sub for fun wasnt always that broad in choices...  the best singers and best songs list Im thinkin have disappeared..which is cool too ...

but..each person approaches this entire issue in their on unique way..i rate..when the mood hits..and i critique ..when i feel someone is truly wanting  it....i let my songs be ranked..cuz ...there is a chance someone will have useful information that will help me be better..i NEVER think I have done my best and always strive for more..and it is FUN for me to be that way haha

anyhowsoever...mite as well all hug..cuz this issue  wont be resolved... but the discussions can get very interesting

I literally cannot for the life of me believe this entire discussion thread I have seen here, and it just gives credence to what I already suspected, .  This is utter madness people.  Listen, if we want to compete in a competition there are plenty of places for that.  Karaoke Scene, and Singers Showcase in my opinion should rid themselves of this rating system.  The magazine is an awesome one, the Showcase with the exception of this ridiculous ideal that we must rank one another at all is the one flaw in this system.
I have seen post after post of persons stating that the COMMENTS are the important factors here, and I believe that.  I am here for several reasons

a) working on streaming music theories.  I want to know how people feel about the equality of the backing to my vocals.  I want to know people's opinions on certain ideas I get for reverb or echo in some strategic places within a song.
b) trying to introduce some people that have never had the opportunity to hear certain new music to a new culture in some genres.  If you like the group and want to know more, heck man, let me know
c) enjoy music with others here of a similar make-up if you will.  If you listen to the incredible people here, you see the following
   persons harmonizing several octaves with their own voice and creating an awesome final product.
   experiments with different sounds and effects added to the artists original piece
   Complete rewriting lyrics for a moment of satire with the persons here who LOVE Music, NOT an individual
   Heck we even have people who create their OWN backings to the music then record their vocals.  THAT is ingenuity and creativity at it's best and this is the way to begin writing your own songs, if that's what you desire.
   Most importantly you see people from all over the United States who hear a certain singers sound, and requests a possible duet, now you have people mixing their vocals with others that they admire and enjoy.

We are here to learn, to share our music, our thoughts and ideas with other gifted people, and a lot of people on this web site have gigantic hearts and souls.  

In short I am going to remove any song I have had ranked and will not allow another to be ranked, because regardless of what anyone thinks, item c listed above are the reasons I am here.  I say with heart-felt empathy that I am a lover of all aspects of the music industry and its artists and avid followers.  I am not an individualist who considers himself flawless.  I mean no disrespect to anyone whatsoever, but I do not wish to be the tiniest bit attached to the entire ranking spectrum in regards to myself.  But for those who do wish to continue be ranked, I am always upfront and will continue to be so.  

I truly hope I haven't offended anyone here, I appreciate the brief moment on the soapbox, I won't be returning to this topic, because it really appears to have been beaten to death and it appears that a solutions has already been suggested and slated for development in the future.

I'm sure we all appreciate your input and welcome!!  However, you do know that you are bringing up an argument that was let go a month ago?

Anyway, some of us LIKE the rankings.  Not everyone complains about them.  They are fun, to me, and give me something to aim for. I don't always agree with what people say or how they rank, but it's still fun to see what they put.  

I don't get mad if I don't get tens.  In fact, lately I've gotten a lot of tens so it's been really odd.  I didn't get any at all and then all of a sudden after almost a year of posting my songs, I got about 8 of them.  I don't know if people were just being nicer here, or the low-ranking people were avoiding me, or what.  But anyway, I don't attach a lot of importance to either comments or ranking, or Singers' Showcase, either, for that matter.  The world will not end if I get a 5 (not that I ever have, hee hee).  It's just for fun, rankings, comments, all of it.  The minute it stops being fun, I'm gone. Why would one stay here if they didn't like it or only want to complain? That I don't get.  LIfe's too short!

Well, enough rambling...what can I say, it's 3 am!
