Hey folks
Just hoping everyone that lives down south made it through the hurricane. I know of at least one member who had to evacuate, and I have noticed some regulars from the showcase haven't been around for a couple days, hope everyone is safe

I've been wondering about them too Nathan.
I don't know how many people from here are actually down that way, but I do know Billy is. He lives in Gulfport.
Kass is also down there somewhere, not sure of what area of Louisiana she is in though.
It would be nice if someone heard from either of them if they'd post it. But- it may be that they can't call or email.
I just watched some online news videos, it's awful down there. Kinda makes our own little problems seem small & insignificant in comparrison.

I agree Charmin! Things are really bad. With New Orleans being below sea level, it will definitely take some time to remove the water. I hope our SS friends living in those areas will find a way to let us know they are Ok! I also hope that they have not suffered the loss or heavy damages to their homes as many of the people living there have.--Mike

There are many people here in Lake Charles from New Orleans staying at the college and the Civic center. We were far enough away that we only had some winds and very little rain. We were very lucky. Baton Rouge is without power.
And several other towns. MS. is also a mess.
If I hear anything else i will post it.
God Bless

kass lives in the central part of LA, well away from the devastation caused by the hurricane....
billy is in alabama safe and sound....yesterday he ran into 2 people from the same area where he lives and things are looking up that he may have a place to come home to...keep him in your prayers though....he has 2 brothers there now and it's still impossible for him to call into that area...

Well, that's certainly a relief.
Kass- everyone's been thinking about you & Billy. Glad to hear you're okay.
And thanks Milo for posting about Billy, atleast now we know he got out.
I've still been watching this on TV & the net, things just seem to be getting worse out there, so much loss. :(

Yeah, I've turned the TV off. Tried to nap, but hearing about it while lying down kept me watching the television.
I'm sure, like you, I'll wander back in the bedroom & click the TV on to get the updates later on. It's hard not to- cause then you feel like you're not caring. Wish I was in a position to do something- anything- to help.
And then when you know there's friends down there......... Just really glad to hear those I know are alright. Tell Billy he's missed here, and I really hope everything works out okay for him.

Glad they are okay! We are not close to the gulf here in Bama but we did get our power knocked out for a day...lots of rain and wind. Scary what is happening to the those poor people.
You can donate to the Red Cross by going to my blog

or my other sites.
Have a good week everyone!

Hey guys,
We got hit last Thursday when Katrina was a cat 1. Lost our power and still don't have it back on. I'm writing to you from work. We're at a hotel til the electrician hopefully works on it today. Everyone else on our block has power but unfortunately, our avocado tree fell on our power line and something got fried so our situation is a little different. I hope to be on here soon, I'm just getting a few spare moments here and there on my breaks at work to come by. Hope everyone is safe. Miss y'all!!

Seeing the devastation and those poor people suffering brings tears to my eyes. Last night I donated 20 dollars to Americares, 20 to The Red Cross, And 20 to The Salvation Army. These charities will accept as small as a 5 dollar donation and you can designate that the money be used directly for the hurricane katrina effort. You can donate online.
Those people desperately need our help.

Hi everyone! I live in North Central Alabama and I was without power for 5 days last week. I lost half of my frozen foods but thank goodness the insurance company ALFA I have on the house is going to pay for all my lost items. I just found out one of my cousins is in New Orleans but haven't heard anything from him. So I hope he's alright. Take care! Crystal :p
