Will karaoke player's key change function work on any type of disc/file that the player supports (mpeg,divx, etc.)?  Or does it only work for native karaoke formats?

I believe the RSQ 333 works with both CDG's and VCD/SVCD's.  I also believe that the key changer on my CAVS 203G works with all formats (DVD/SCDG/CDG/etc).

If you're running a computer based show or need an external key changer you can always go with something like the Fleco Key Changer or the VocoPro unit.

Does that mean there's no software karaoke player that will allow you to change the key in real time?

Winamp has a couple of different key changing plugins, the most popular called Pacemaker, and if you use winamp to also play your video files (mpg, avi, wma, Mpeg, DIvx etc) then you can use the keychanger to change key of the vids etc... not sure what affect it will have on the speed of the video etc but it WILL change the key for better or worse... - tig
