Have you ever passed up on a gig and ended up regretting it? I'm currently going through that!! I had a chance to get a job about 7 months ago but decided not to persue it, one because at the time they required that you use their system which was crap and management was in constent turnover. In a previous posting I had mentioned a fellow KJ coming into my shows and recruiting people to come to his. Well!! he is the one that took the gig I turn down months ago but now they offered it on a Friday night (which there is no other Karaoke going on in the area) instead of the Thursday they offered in the beginning. He used to be a patron of my shows and knows everyone I know that comes to my show. He calls them every week making sure  they come to see his show. If I had only taken the gig this possibly would not have occured.  :(  I think I'm letting this beat me up to much but I've beem considered on of the best KJ's in the area. So the question is does being the best KJ beat out having the best venue?

Best show/best venue, a crap shoot at best.  So many different factors.  My question is how much are they paying (and don't take the host's word for it).  If it's a hundred or less then let hom keep it.  For every door left unopened there are plenty more to open.  Personally I will go to the better show.

Well I'm not sure what he's making now but I do know, because I know a couple of people who work there, that he begged for awhile to work there till he agreed to do the gig for free to prove how many people he could bring in.

It happens. I tried one bar a few time to get a gig, it was nice and close to home. I drove past one week and out on the sign they had Karaoke starting what ever date. I couldn't figure out why they did not hire me. Well, the place closed 2 week ago so I'm gald I didn't get the gig it lasted 2 months at most.

I'm at the point now where I am tired of small bars. I'm going after the big dog's Hard Rock Cafe, Red Star Brewery, any thing I can find that is big.

Find a place close by and tell them what you can do for them on Friday nights.

The bad part about this it is close to my home.  :(  Hopefully this won't hurt me to much.
