Someone once mentioned that Numark manufactured the rack mounted cdg players sold by Vocopro...was that true? Vocopro just came out withe the ultimate pro cdg player cdg9000 pro - I would buy one today if it was made by Numark
It has everything the Numark CDN25+G is missing. How long until Numark puts out a similiar player ???
Dual CD/CD+G deck player with separate CD+G decoders
Individual 12 step digital key control for each deck
Easy track programmability from the front panel
±12 step pitch control that does not scramble lyrics when adjusted
Choose between individual A/V out or switched A/V out
Loop function allows you to create segments for continuous play on the fly
Professional shuttle dial and jog wheel for precision cueing and frame searching
Rugged rackmountable design for the professional KJ and DJ
Choose between Single Track or Continuous Play modes
Size: 19´´ w x 10´´d x 7´´h. Wt. 16 lbs. (both units)

I heard that American Audio made the VP players, however, VP strongly refutes this claim & says they make EVERYTHING (yeah right) themselves with no outside help.
I would be curious with actual useage on this player though - durability, graphics, reliability, etc....

Another problem with the new Vocopro cdg9000 is the price tag $599 little steep considering its VOCOPRO and just a dual cdg player ? I could see $299 for the Numark if it had the digiital key change. I did notice one online retailer offering the Numark cdn25+g for $233 . I also noticed on the VP corp website that they offer EXTENDED WARRANTIES on most of there products .. NOt sure if thats good or bad LOL

Actually I wish someone would make a high end dual cd+g player. Take a NuMark CD-88 or 90 and add cd+g to it I'd pay $1000 for it. A Pioneer CDJ-3000 with cd+g capability would be sweet too, that would easily fetch $1200.
The need to quit putting out junk this $300 players all are not manufatured anywhere near the quality of a top of the line Dual Cd player.
Why? Generally speaking KJ's are cheap, and under priced using less expensive equipment than the normal modile DJ. Not saying anything about the people here as most of the KJ's on the chat board here do have above average systems compared to many of the ones I have seen.
Companies need to start treating KJ's like real DJ's before we will see dramatic inprovements in equipment. Most of the players are still made to look like home units, they are not durable or rack mountable. The instrustry standard is the rsq and JVC players and honestly they are not fantastic. There could be much better. The also market high breed home equipment as pro karaoke equipment. Someone needs to step up and produce some quality equipment.
The question is would the average KJ spend $1500 on a good player and $1200 on a good mixer? Most complain about spending $400 on a decent mic.

I guess it all depends on your needs..MOST here including myself wouldn't need a $1000 dual cd player unless your doing some beat mixing and some club work
requiring all the bells and whistles those HIGH END units have. I can see where some mobile DJ's would need the bells and some karaoke capability too. But KARAOKE is very SIMPLE... Put a quality cdg into a player have it play music like any other cd and show some graphics on a monitor or Tv . The rest is the proaudio end AMP MIXERS MICS SPEAKERS ETC. The $260 JVC/RSQ Triple Tray is the standard in the karaoke business with KJ's . The only problem it has is its not rackmountable, can't be used properly for DJ work and thOSE TINY TINY buttons.
Give me a simple dual rack mountable cdg player with the key changing ability for about $400 and thats a deal ...Did I say quality and dependable too

"Companies need to start treating KJ's like real DJ's before we will see dramatic inprovements in equipment."
Thank you.
However, KJ's need to start being as demanding as DJ's are with their sound...And they need to be just as smart as DJ's when it comes to sound equipment and operation of same.
Afterall, a KJ is a DJ in every respect except the included graphics.,,,his sound system needs to be as good as any DJ's and he needs to be thoght of in the same respect to the audio makers.

This is partly what is driving prices down in the karaoke industry. People just jumping in thinking they can get a set of $200 speakers, a crappy "karaoke" mixer amp with the built in cheese ball echo, a couple of $20 mics & an SGB core. The SAD thing is - they are getting jobs & driving down the prices. Prices should have gone UP over the years, not down. Karaoke has always been looked at as a 2nd rate form of entertainment & with cheeseball systems with no quality, that image will NEVER improve.

more than that; KJ need to deal with the singers' mic.

first of all, KJS are not a HUGE spending force. We might think we are, but djs outshine kjs nearly twenty or thirty to one!
I'm curious what more you guys WANT in a kj player?? Something that plays discs. doesn't break, and is dependable? We HAVE that in the JVC / RSQs!!
Those of you that want the autoque... knock yourselves out! But I've had many singer forget which song they're singing, and are grateful for the splash screen as they're walking up to the mic!

I agree with you Matt, BUT it would be great if someone would produce a dual rackmounted cdg player that incorporates all the features of the JVC/RSQ units.
The Vocopro cdg9000 has all the features a KJ would want, I don't think its missing anything. Dual Players, built in decoders, digital key change, etc. The price I still feel is STEEP for a company with a poor quality reputation.
DJ'S AND KJ'S ARE SIMILIAR in many ways and so differant in other ways as there needs and wants. The probleim I see it is when we try to be both using one piece of equipment . It all comes down to your individual needs as a KJ or DJ. One person may require a $1200 cd player others can be as professional with a $99 Ipod
Its all depends on what you want to accomplish as a mobile entertainer of host.

Can I play?
The best cd+g player that I have come across is no longer being manufactured. The dual tray Pioneer. I recently invested in all of my own Karaoke equipment (January 2005), and settled for the RSQ 333 triple tray. Now then, I've had problems since day one with my CDs skipping in mid-song on my singers. I've replaced microphones, amps, mixers, you name it I've tried it. I'm on my third RSQ player, still same problem. Now I'm being told that the soundwaves from the singer & music are causing my player to skip because it is not mounted inside my rack. (sits on the rack shelf above the amp).
So where do I turn? The only thing that's close to solving my problem, the Numark CDN25+G. I plan on buying it as soon as the goons at Guitar Center get it in. Hopefully this will end my embarrassment that the RSQ has caused me for 6 months.
KJ's cheap? I don't know about the rest of you but if my singers sound like crap or my system malfunctions then I feel the embarrassment. I'll spend what I must to keep the singers sounding good, if not great. However, we need affordability and a player over $500.00 is pushing the limit.
What do we want? We want a sturdy/durable dual CD player that is rack mountable. With key changer. With option for one video out. And with semi-DJ capability so that there is no "dead air" when we need to do a Wedding or doing a "DJ" only gig. And we want a decent price tag $299 to $499 range.
Until then, I'll give the Numark a try... and when the chances of upgrading comes along, I'll check into that too...
Just my two nickels worth...

And don't forget auto-pause (embarassing when the next song starts before you open the tray and reverse timer (count down so you know how much bathroom time you have).
Pioneer please bring back the V10 and make it rack mountable and add DVD/VDC capabilty. I figured the reason they stopped making them is because the units would never die. Talk about workmanship.

What do I want? How about a Technics SLDZ-1200 that plays CDG's? Then I could just get a setup for DJ'ing in a coffin style case I can put on top of my normal karaoke equipment that will let me do my karaoke discs as well. Yes, they're $1000 each but they ROCK!

Auto-cue? Reverse-timer? DVD/VCD? Pioneer? Talking about a dreamworld... If there was a new Pioneer rack-mount like that I'd be happier than a rooster in a hen house.
Let's put a cherry on top of that one... What if, Pioneer began making CD+Gs again too?
Ah, that was fun... Back to searching for the Holy Grail...

Just my two nickels worth... Do you run your mic`s thru the player or a mixer? I ask because I sit my player on top of my mixer amp and have never had that problem yet.

I run my microphones (SM58) through my mixing board using livewire mic cords with low-z ends. My amp and player sit inside an SKB rack; amp on the bottom, player on a shelf about 1" above amp. Mixer occupies the top of the rack in a slanted position.
All advice welcome!
Recently received advice stated that the "mystery of soundwaves" causes sound to build up inside my rack. At certain points (karaoke singer hitting low bass or too loud on microphone causes my CD+G skip. His advice was to insulate my RSQ or to upgrade to a player that is rack mountable.
I think it sounds crazy, but I've tried everything else.

Tim, the RSQ / JVC has a tiny switch on the left side of the player
There is a "karaoke" mode that stops after the song ends.
Everyone's longing for the Pioneer V-10s crack me up. They play much quieter than the JVCs, won't play VCD, and some of them won't play burned cds!
