there used to be a video site of a British chap that would sing karaoke or to the radio while driving... he set up the camera ahead of time, and then would record himself... was funny, but also found out highly illegal...

Extremely dangerous and stupid, this whole idea. While driving, you are in control driving of a lethal weapon. Talking on cellphones, reading karaoke lyrics, under the influence of alcohol..............all the same dangerous sport. If I were you, I'd put the whole idea out of my head.
Badsinger, I don't know where you are from exactly within Asia, but I spend many many moons in Taiwan, China and Thailand, and the people drive like maniacs there already. You reading karaoke lyrics while driving, will most certainly increase the death toll on the roads.

Sorry my friend, I am totally against your idea and would strongly advise you against it.

Malaysia, thats where I come from. I read the above post last nite and just laugh at it; the usual Allstar straight talk.  :worship:  I still find it a good idea but I might have to learn to sing without having the lyric infront of me. I may have to be the passenger if the song is new and want to have a go at it. That way its will be safer.

I may have to abort the project . I was just back from the police station to make a report. My CAR got broken in last nite and those bums wanna still my system. The good thing is they are spoil, and my window  got smash. Got is send to the workshop to have it replaced. A karaoke system will attract big time theft. And I need the money to pay for the new window.


P/s Allstar you are right people here are just plain bad driver.

The thing to do is karaoke on the go. I'm putting together a system to take tailgateing to steeler games. I'm going to run a mobile power amp and mixer run karaoke from my notebook, and use a power inverter. Amp will be standard car power amp for subs but I will use my JBL EON 1500's on stands outside the truck. I have done this once in the past but I would like to perminatly install this as part of my system.

I'll have to make a smaller book as I can only use 40 gig of karaoke because of hard drive space.

I dont have the mony now to do it cos the replacement of the windscreen and window cost me a bomb. will do more research to get a better system at the less possible cost. But as fornow I need to learn to sing without reading the lyric eitherwise Allstar will be after my tail again

To be honest, I've found the best thing for practicing in the car is singing along with the original version.  Getting the timing down on a song is a lot more difficult than some singers imagine.  And you can tell when they have not put in the effort to get the timing correct.  This is particularly true with Frank Sinatra.  I sang along with Frank for four weeks until I could do New York, New York.

I have been doing that all this while Dave; singing along with the original. And I bust my speakers playing the music too loud.  LOL  I sing alot while I drive esp when there is no passenger in the car.
I love the idea of the laptop since I alread have one. Then I discman is also a good candidate.

I take it you are driving a car quite a bit.

Less , much less now, it used to be a lot before. Now, my longest drive is only 125km to and from the karaoke club that a nornaly sing in, 'bout 4 time a week
